Incredible weekend at the 2026 @Reducetarian Summit representing liberty-minded solutions to animal suffering. We are in this fight to stop taxpayer-funded animal cruelty! What motivates you?

What supporters of the Save Our Bacon Act won’t tell you: it enables our broken immigration system. Many factory farms rely on H-2A visa loopholes and undocumented labor to undercut fair wages and bypass safety rules. By empowering these operations, the SOB Act endangers human lives and undermines the rule of law.

“Man was appointed by God to have dominion over the beasts, and everything a man does to an animal is either a lawful exercise, or a sacrilegious abuse, of an authority by divine right." — C.S. Lewis Lewis, a renowned Christian apologist, believed the biblical concept of "dominion" was a divine responsibility rather than a license for cruelty. Somewhere along the way, we managed to get this completely backwards. Rather than outsourcing our moral duty to bureaucrats and corporate monopolies, we should embrace free market opportunities to treat animals according to our moral convictions.

Did you know a Chinese-backed company owns 25% of America’s pork production? To make matters worse, some American lawmakers are pushing a provision in the farm bill which would shield foreign conglomerates from market competition. The so-called Save Our Bacon Act would benefit Chinese-owned factory farm conglomerates, while harming small, independent American farmers. It's bad news for the free market, and bad news for national security.

Conservative Iowa Standard features OpEd by @wilberforceinst opposing @hinsonashley Ashley Hinson’s Save Our Bacon Act. “Other family farmers across the Midwest have invested millions to adopt more humane practices. The SOB Act would punish these producers for following market signals while rewarding corporate mega-operations that rely on intense confinement. Because many foreign conglomerates own factory farms on American soil, the SOB Act even bolsters foreign adversaries. When Chinese-backed WH Group purchased Smithfield Foods, for example, it gained control over an entire quarter of America’s pork production and tens of thousands of acres of Midwestern farmland. Using federal preemption to shield entities aligned with the Chinese Communist Party directly undermines national security. The SOB Act also defies core conservative beliefs about good stewardship. If America is to remain a city on a hill, how can we allow Congress to nullify laws primarily aimed at alleviating the suffering and extreme confinement of farmed animals, whose lives are miserable enough already? Locking a mother pig in a crate so narrow she cannot even turn around for months at a time is a morally repugnant practice to which most Americans are opposed. By undermining the financial viability of more humane farming practices, the bill would ensure American agriculture fails to innovate or reflect our values.” theiowastandard.com/miller-r…

Free Markets 🤝 Innovation 🤝 Animal Protection. The future is bright! 🚀
The first flying car is made by @elonmusk and harms zero animals (even using plant-based leather). As the founder of our nation’s first conservative animal advocacy organization, I’m calling this a win.

This book reinforced my views that we have a clear moral duty to treat animals better and reduce unnecessary suffering, especially in factory farming.

24 years ago today, Matthew Scully released his book Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy.  In it, Scully, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, argues for mercy and benevolence toward God’s creatures, connecting the biblical concept of dominion to reducing animal suffering. How did this book change your perspective? We’d love to hear in the comments👇

Government check-off programs are bad news. They disproportionately benefit factory farms, while shaping national dietary habits around government-subsidized industries rather than actual consumer demand. Time to let the free market work!
Are you watching government ads paid for by money they forced farmers to pay?

William Wilberforce, our organization’s namesake, is famous for his work to end the transatlantic slave trade. But did you know he was also a staunch advocate for animals, and helped establish the world’s first animal welfare organization?  Wilberforce’s concern for the suffering of all living beings flowed naturally from his foundational beliefs as a Conservative and a Christian. Today, as the nation’s first conservative animal advocacy organization, we continue to draw inspiration from his trailblazing work.

Yesterday, we took Lefty to the Blessing of the Animals at our church for the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. I’m continually inspired by St. Francis’s heart for animals and by the mercy and compassion he exhibited for all of God’s creation.

Today is World Animal Day. We love our animals, and we won't stop fighting for them. They aren't lab equipment, and they aren't disposable. We've made protecting them a priority during our time in Congress: ✅ The PUPPS Act ends the breeding of dogs for research and shuts down the pipeline supplying them to taxpayer-funded labs. ✅ Violet's Law, passed in the House-passed Farm Bill, requires federal labs to offer retirement and adoption to animals instead of euthanasia once research ends. ✅ The PAAW Act prohibits the National Institutes of Health from conducting or funding research causing the most severe levels of pain or distress to dogs and cats. Man's best friend belongs in a loving home, not a lab. We'll keep fighting to protect the voiceless.
