Herbert Trenkler - Wilhelm Exner Medaille 1970 Maßgeblich bei der Entwicklung des Linz-Donawitz-Verfahren, ein Sauerstoffblasverfahren zur Umwandlung von kohlenstoffreichem Roheisen in kohlenstoffarmen Stahl. 60% des Rohstahls wird heute im LD-Verfahren erzeugt.

Herbert Trenkler - Wilhelm Exner Medal 1970 Instrumental in the development of the Linz-Donawitz process, an oxygen-blowing process for converting high-carbon pig iron into low-carbon steel. 60% of crude steel is now produced using the LD process.

Fritz Stüssi - Wilhelm Exner Medal 1966 Bridge construction @ETH Participation in the then largest bridge construction in the world, the 1.7km long Kill van Kull arch bridge (NY). Expert in tilting and buckling problems, ultimate load determinations in steel, aluminium and wood.

Willem Johan Kolff - Wilhelm Exner Medaille 1980 Erfinder von Dialysegeräten und der ersten Herz-Lungen-Maschine, sowie künstlicher Organe. Das erste künstliche Herz konnte 1982 bei einem Menschen eingesetzt werden. 1967 verbesserte Kolff die Dialysemaschine für Heimanwendung.

Willem Johan Kolff - Wilhelm Exner Medal 1980 Inventor of dialysis machines and the first heart-lung machine, as well as artificial organs. The first artificial heart was implanted in a human in 1982. In 1967 Kolff improved the dialysis machine for home use.
