Today the Prime Minister rejected our calls for electoral reform, despite a majority of people supporting it and MPs voting for our bill yesterday. We need to restore trust in politics and make every vote count. Parliament should at least have the chance to consider our bill.

So to recap… Bus fare cap ⬆️ 50% Rail fares ⬆️ 4.6% Rail cards ⬆️ by £5 Fuel duty… still frozen. Gov talks of delivering on the environment yet undermines itself by failing to adequately tax our most polluting forms of transport & support the most sustainable. #Budget2024

Let's make the #CANBill happen! Passed its 1st reading today & has a broad coalition of support from all major parties. But both #Exeter's MPs (@steve_race & @David__Reed) are yet to back it. You CAN make a difference! RT & email your MP to urge support: action.zerohour.uk
YES WE CAN Pass the Climate and Nature Act. "The CAN bill recognises the scope, scale, and kind of action required. I urge Exeter's MPs in the strongest possible terms to put party politics aside and back this historic legislation to save our future." -Will Aczel, former Lib Dem MP Candidate for Exeter. Your voice CAN make a difference. Write to your MP: action.zerohour.uk

A few weeks ago, I became a member of the Chagos APPG, Vice Chair of the APPG on Gibraltar and the Secretary of the Falklands APPG. It would be fair to say I have more than a passing interest in U.K. Overseas Territories and a fair bit of accumulated knowledge.

@DevonCC is consulting on improvements to four bus corridor areas in the city: devon.gov.uk/roads-and-trans… Better bus infrastructure not only improves the reliability of buses, it also improves blue light response times, taxi costs, and cycling safety.

This site could serve so many much needed purposes - including hosting a market, performance venue, or social housing. But Labour are taking steps to make it a car park.. despite the impending climate crisis & 6 within 500m with plenty spare capacity. 1/3 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy5…

Car park plans for old Exeter bus station site criticised

The Green Party says the plans are "ridiculous" and do not make sense financially.

Tomorrow, the people of #Exeter will come together to show where our collective values lie: united against racism, Islamaphobia, hate, violence, and the politics of division. Everyone should have the right to live peacefully. Diversity is strength. – at Exeter, England
Unity Rally. Stop the far right. Refugees welcome. 12 noon Saturday 10th August. Bedford Square, Exeter High Street. Organised by Exeter Together and Exeter Stand Up To Racism. This is not a counter protest to any planned far right activity, rather a peaceful way Exeter can show its commitment to unity, anto-racism and diversity.

Proportional Commons@PropVoting23 Jul 2024
2024-07-23: King's Speech (Motion for an Address): Amendment (k) The 84 MPs voting 'Aye' represented 9,908,248 voters. The 380 MPs voting 'No' represented 9,216,704 voters. Aye majority = 691,544 But result was No because seats don't match votes. See ALT text.
This chart is a proportional recount of a vote in the House of Commons. The top two bars show the number of MPs from each party who voted Aye or No in the division. The bottom two bars show the number of voters those MPs represent. For example, if a party won two million votes in the general election and half of that party's MPs voted in the division, that would represent one million voters. In many cases, more voters are represented by the MPs on the losing side. This is because seats don't match votes with First Past the Post (FPTP). Recounts are shown in terms of ideal MPs who all represent the same number of people. The method is not a simulation of a PR elected Commons. It is intended to highlight the distortion of FPTP. For more details, see the FAQ: https://tinyurl.com/4hxyc8e7
