Українські сили успішно провели складну гуманітарну спецоперацію з порятунку цивільного населення з тимчасово окупованого міста Олешки на Херсонщині. Евакуйована група громадян уже безпечно перетнула державний кордон України через пункт пропуску в Чернігівській області.
Серед урятованих — українці різного віку: найстаршій жительці виповнилося 94 роки, а наймолодшому врятованому малюкові — трохи більше одного року. Разом із людьми з окупованої території вдалося успішно вивезти і їхніх домашніх улюбленців. Усі евакуйовані знаходяться під опікою спеціалізованих служб та отримують необхідну медичну, психологічну та соціальну допомогу.

Sofia Konyshcheva was 23 days old.
She was born on July 22, 2023, in the village of Shyroka Balka in the Kherson region. Her parents didn’t even have time to officially register her.
On August 13, the Russians opened fire. The family ran to a neighbor’s basement — they didn’t make it. The shell exploded right in the yard.
Sofia, her mother Olesya, her father Dmytro, and her 11-year-old brother Artem were killed. The boy kept calling for his mother for several more hours.

"Why would some Ukrainians choose to stay in Oleshky? Because they fear being put in the hands of the Russians.
Even with the Ukrainian delegation on the ground, this being a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, these Ukrainians that have been in a war-torn city are afraid.
What if they could be subjected to filtration? What if they could be detained by Russian authorities going through screenings? Ukrainian men of fighting age fear they could be forced into Russian military recruitment as they try to leave. We are also hearing reports that civilians have been pressured to stay in Russia.
And again, the evacuation process that's taking place is not straightforward. Residents cannot go from occupied Ukraine into Ukraine because there is a front line. So civilians will be going from Oleshky through occupied Ukraine into Russia, into Belarus, and then back to Ukraine.
