I share my thoughts on old school D&D and the OSR.

Make them have to deal with the bad parts of being undead. Like sunlight hurts them, for example. That way they can only come out at night. I played a vampire once. It sucked lol
How should a Dungeon Master handle a player who willingly accepts a vampire bite because they think becoming undead sounds cool?

Over 40 years, my least played character class was Thief. Wasn't really my thing. And parties got by just fine without thieves, honestly. The Original Game didn't even have thieves. So are thieves/rogues really necessary or just a nice to have?

Little bit of 80s here. Back when Transformers first came out, some toy companies bought up licenses to make story vinyl LPs. Here is one of them. The theme song is also 80s synth wave awesomeness. I had this vinyl record when I was a kid. youtu.be/2lWfloBg3WE

Yes. I got locked in Glantri’s Tower of Sighs with a wraith. Level drained like 5 levels
Level Drain! Were you ever a victim of this most sinister attack? And… are there any modern games still using this mechanic? #dnd #rpg #1980s #nostalgia

Well, given that the average person has like 4 to 5 HP of damage before dying, I would say broken bones might be 1 HP of damage
What is 1 HP of damage in real life? Have you ever taken 1 HP damage? What's the most you've taken? Discuss.

My favorite spell is Charm Person, before it was nerfed. In OD&D, the spell lasted forever until dispelled.
Tell me one of YOUR favorite "not fireball" spells! Mine: Separation (read about it below... it's fun!)

The Rules Cyclopedia. I got so many years of fun out of that one book, including one campaign which lasted 10 years.

Deceiver detected. @Bdubs1776 make her say the words to prove she isn’t a demon 😉

Why? I don’t understand the point of doing this to Clyde Caldwell’s art
I wonder if Clyde Caldwell is aware that they've changed his scandalous iconic artwork from the cover of Azure Bonds..... #dnd

Considering the direction Sony is going, absolutely
Humor me this... 1. SONY cancels 💿 come 2028 2. SEGA re-enters console war 3. Drops new console w/disc drive 4. Publishes their main titles exclusively Would you buy a new @SEGA console? ✔️Yes ❌No

I think magic items are more special when they are rare. Heck, I was happy with a plain old +1 sword when I got one. I had stingy DMs and I was good with that
Modern Dungeon Masters need to say "no" more often. Modern players need to not throw a hissy fit when they do.

You know you’re an old fart when you can’t stand modern pop music so you listen to your playlist of songs made 40-50 years ago

Based. Finally War Machine and Siege Machine are getting their due
The Rules Cyclopedia is a War Game. I will not elaborate further at this point.

I have to admit though, for whatever flaws it has, DeepSeek V4 Flash is REALLY good on price.

So I tried DeepSeek V4 Flash on OpenCode Go and it is decent, but made a lot of bugs which Claude Opus ended up fixing. The reasoning is not as good as Opus for sure.

I just checked with my utility company. Apparently they don’t take mission statements as acceptable payment
JUST IN: Anthropic CEO reportedly increasingly concerned that new hires are working there for a paycheck, as opposed to the company’s mission.

So I tried OpenCode Go and it's OK. It's not Claude Code, but it is decent. The price difference is the selling point. $10/month for OpenCode Go vs. $200/month for Claude Code. I guess I just got too used to using Opus 5 and Fable.
