Kulang ang suspension of business sa kawalang hiyaan nila. Jusko π’π’
The Bacoor City government has ordered the suspension of a pet crematoriumβs business permit after its owner reportedly failed to provide sufficient proof that deceased pets entrusted to the establishment were actually cremated.
In an October 31, 2026 update, the city government disclosed that representatives from its legal, licensing, environmental, and veterinary offices met with Jonathan Legaspi, owner of Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium, and more than 30 pet owners demanding answers and justice.
According to the local government, the establishment holds a valid business permit for cremation services in Bacoor and has two cremation machines, one in Bacoor and another reportedly located in Caloocan City.
Legaspi acknowledged that some deceased pets had been transported to Caloocan for cremation. However, investigators said he failed to present sufficient documentation proving that the procedures were actually performed.
More disturbingly, the city government reported that Legaspi could not guarantee that the ashes returned to grieving pet owners actually belonged to their animals.
He also could not confirm whether the animal remains shown in viral photographs from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, were among those entrusted to his establishment.
No CCTV footage or adequate cremation records were presented during the meeting, according to the cityβs preliminary findings.
29 DEAD PETS FOUND IN BULACAN
The controversy erupted after 29 dead animals, consisting of 26 dogs and three cats, were discovered dumped in a vacant lot in San Jose del Monte.
Animal welfare group Luna And Furry Siblings helped document the discovery and identify the animalsβ owners. Volunteers visited six veterinary clinics and two cremation providers and, with assistance from PetMed Animal Clinic, scanned all 29 animals for microchips. None were found.
However, several plastic bags containing the remains carried names and recorded weights.
One grieving pet owner, Ceejae Perez, claimed that her dog Ivy was among the discarded animals despite having paid for cremation services.
Perez shared photographs showing a dead dog wrapped in plastic, labeled Ivy, with a recorded weight of 14.6 kilograms.
She also presented screenshots of an October 23 conversation with the cremation provider, including a photograph of Ivy on a weighing scale displaying the same weight.
Her family had already received an urn they believed contained Ivyβs ashes.
βBuong akala namin si Ivy ang abo dito sa bahay, hindi pala,β Perez lamented.
Other pet owners subsequently expressed similar fears.
The couple behind the Facebook page JihMich β Jihyo&Michelle questioned whether the ashes returned to them belonged to their pets, Sol, a dog that died in November 2025, and Giant, a cat that died in January 2026.
They emphasized that they were not making baseless accusations but wanted proof that their pets had received proper cremation.
CREMATORIUM FACES CLOSURE
Following the October 31 meeting, Bacoor authorities announced that the establishmentβs business permit would be suspended and its operations closed, subject to applicable legal procedures.
The Business Permit and Licensing Department has inspected the establishment, while the City Legal Office assisted in mediation. Police and barangay officials also helped pet owners document their complaints.
Some owners are seeking financial compensation and damages, while others intend to file formal cases with police assistance.
The city government stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and that responsibility has not yet been conclusively established.
Authorities have yet to independently establish the identities of all the recovered animals, whether cremation services were fraudulently performed, or who was responsible for dumping the remains.
For dozens of grieving pet owners, the central question remains unanswered: Were their beloved animals truly cremated, and whose ashes have they been keeping at home?

JONATHAN GALAURA LEGASPI. Remember the name!!! βΌοΈ
