"At 35 weeks I lost the baby and my womb. I ended up losing 3 litres of blood and needed an emergency hysterectomy. This is what can happen." This was a UK surrogacy arrangement in a family and the woman thought she was helping. This woman now considers herself lucky to be alive.
Following the announcement in The Times Style Magazine George Norwood provides a 6 month update in @thetimes.

By-passing the celebrity name drops and self-absorbed pity party, the details are:
✅ Mexican surrogate mother was chosen for her nice hair and a son who is a hairdresser
✅ Venezuelan woman chosen for her ‘high-value’ DNA
✅ British Agency (under current investigation by UK Govt) My Surrogacy Journey was paid £65k
✅ Mother had C-section at 38 weeks
✅ Daily breastmilk delivery is made by her partner for the first 8 weeks of Elijah’s life (this would have been included in the contract with a payment attached as an additional ‘service’)
✅ Norwood is considering a ‘sibling journey’ - will he go back to Mexico for repeat business?
Back in England George promises to stay in touch with the anon mother but this boy will not grow up with her and he may find he has many siblings later on.
Another day, another Times story celebrating a wealthy gay man buying a baby from a woman in a developing country and trafficking it into the U.K.

🚨 BREAKING: A male NHS nurse says he’s received four nominations for awards that celebrate women working in healthcare - including ‘Women’s Champion of the Year’.
Jia Palis Amada said being “embraced as a woman” was already an award in itself.
The awards are organised by emap - in association with Nursing Times.
Helen Joyce of Sex Matters called the nominations “deeply insulting” to women.

Following in the footsteps of Jens Spahn, Prime Minister Rob Jetten is not following the laws of the land of the country he leads.
Following this public call in a interview women came forward for both #eggdonation and #surrogacy - is the woman offering their body another who offers her DNA, life long friends of the couple or strangers found as a result of a TV broadcast?
It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened despite a ban on advertising…

Weet je nog dat interview dat Jetten gaf in 2025... waarin hij openlijk een oproep deed voor een #draagmoeder? Het is strafbaar in NL om in het openbaar een oproep te doen voor #draagmoederschap (Art 151b Wetboek van Strafrecht).
Waarom komt #Jetten echter overal mee weg? 😠
Broadcast in July 2019 Jake invites audience members to “come forward” to offer themselves for #surrogacy (this would apply to women only, approx 75% of this daytime tv show audience are female).
Later, in January 2020 they appeared on the Lorraine show again to thank them for putting them in touch with single mother of 2, Laura from Belfast, who went on to have not one baby but two, for this couple.

Artikel 151b van het Wetboek van Strafrecht stelt straf op het openbaar maken dat een vrouw die draagmoeder wil worden "wordt gezocht". Volgens Jan Dijkgraaf deed Jetten precies dat in januari 2025 bij Casa di Beau, toen hij hoopte op iemand die "voor deze twee mannen" een kind op de wereld wil zetten.
Een kind "krijg" je niet door een vrouw het te laten dragen en het daarna bij haar weg te halen. Wie dat hardop zegt, is voor de deugbrigade de schurk. Wat een gekkenhuis.

'Draagmoeder' is een opmerkelijk begrip. Het woord beschrijft een afspraak (zij draagt, anderen worden ouders), maar zwijgt over wat er werkelijk gebeurt: een vrouw kan geen kind baren zonder connectie. Het verbloemt de realiteit en holt bovendien het begrip moeder uit. Alsof je een zwangerschap kunt reduceren tot een dienst die je naar believen kunt regelen. Dat de tijd in de baarmoeder van grote invloed is op de rest van ons leven, weten we inmiddels. De maakbaarheidsillusie viert hoogtij.

Opvallend veel homo en hetero mannen op X willen mij als vrouw en moeder zijnde duidelijk maken dat ik een homofoob kreng ben omdat ik mij zorgen maak om de psychische en emotionele ontwikkeling van zowel draagmoeder als baby die opgroeit zonder 24/7 moederliefde.
Blijkt wel weer dat veel mannen vrouwen enkel en alleen als lopende baarmoeder zien die verder hun mond moeten houden.

Ik ben echt fel tegen draagmoederschap en ik snap niet dat niet meer mensen dat zijn. Je verwekt een kind en je weet nu al dat je je baby meteen na de geboorte een trauma gaat geven.

Zelfs een hond heeft meer rechten dan het kind van Jetten.
Een puppy mag wettelijk pas na 7 weken uit het nest worden gehaald, maar een baby wordt vrijwel direct van de draagmoeder gescheiden.
