To recap: There never was an emergency. Masks don't work. Mass testing was counter-productive. Asymptomatic people are healthy. The vaccine doesn't prevent catching covid.

Is anyone planning for an eventual tourism-decline apocalypse in Nashville? There were huge disruptions in 2020 (covid), 2008-2010 (Great Recession, flood), and 2001 (9/11). Item #4391 of how the covid response screwed people over for six years now: Will it become a decade? A generation? Forever?

Comparing the amount and effort put into Halloween decorations vs. Christmas decorations in your neighborhood is as good as any indicator of who your neighbors are.
I’ve noticed my liberal neighbors…many of whom don’t fly the American flag year-round…seem to go ALL OUT for Halloween. I’m talking elaborate decorations, expensive lawn ornaments, the whole nine yards. Meanwhile, my neighbors who lean right seem to keep things pretty simple. A few pumpkins on the front steps…maybe a Halloween sign or two. Nothing too crazy or tacky. I hate to politicize everything but I can’t help noticing the difference. Obviously, this is just what I’m seeing in my own neighborhood…but it makes me wonder if liberals tend to get more into Halloween than conservatives. Seems plausible as the left is fascinated with death, darkness and all things morbid. Anyone else notice the same thing where they live?

The comments here took me to another world that I desperately want to pretend that I never visited.
thought this was an exaggeration until a close friend verified that it happened to her and she let me see but more importantly, she let me gasp and laugh in shock because that MF really slid DOWN beybeh

This is a Ford EV truck not being made in Tennessee's aborted EV Blue Oval City. It is being made in Louisville. Blue Oval City is now the Tennessee Truck Plant and is scheduled to produce ICE trucks in a couple years. It will be interesting to see which turns out as a better investment for Ford.
At @Ford, we want to make the best technology available to the many, not just the few. We want to make products that have great tech, while still being affordable. In 2027, our new electric truck, Ford Fathom, is going to show that it’s possible to deliver an incredible vehicle with incredible tech and incredible value. One technology I’m excited to announce is coming to Fathom is bidirectional power and the ability to use your vehicle to power your house. Our team of amazing engineers developed a better, more efficient and more affordable way to bring more than 10 kW of home power—without a separate wall-mounted inverter—to a truck with an MSRP below $30,000. Making the technology more accessible is one part of the work. We’re also working with utilities to make connecting these vehicles simpler and scalable. Thanks to American Electric Power, @bchydro, @ConsumersEnergy, @Exelon, and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (@PGE4Me) for being among the first utilities to work with us. Not only do they bring great food trucks, but...
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE - THIS HAPPENED AGAIN!!! This is the second illegal alien youth sports coach in Franklin, Tennessee, caught sexually abusing children. 32-year-old Fernando Gonzalez Ramirez, from Panama, is accused of sexually assaulting multiple boys while helping run a youth baseball program in Franklin from 2023 to 2024. He fled once two victims came forward. U.S. Marshals tracked him across multiple countries and arrested him in the Dominican Republic. He is now back in U.S. custody awaiting extradition to Tennessee. This follows Camilo Campos-Hurtado, the Mexican illegal alien soccer coach in Franklin who used fraudulent immigration documents, drugged boys ages 9–17, sexually abused them, and recorded the assaults. He pleaded guilty to child exploitation and immigration fraud charges and was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. He is expected to be deported to Mexico after serving his time. Two illegal alien predators, both coaching kids’ sports in the same Tennessee town, both abusing the trust of parents and children. This is exactly why Tennessee needs more ICE presence!!! These men should never have been here in the first place! Every day they remain free to coach, mentor, or interact with kids is a preventable risk. Stronger enforcement and faster removal protect Franklin’s children!!! msn.com/en-us/news/other/man…

This is a good article that describes what happens in places like Mumbai or Mexico City with unconstrained growth (which brings with it a desire for cost-cutting and speed). The focus in the article on the Bluebird's place in Nashville history is telling. I'm not sure a Verizon store would get the same coverage.

"With both ways out closed, the water backed up at the rear of the building. It collapsed the retaining wall at the rear of the building, piled up against a glass door until the pressure broke the glass, and filled the lower level of the building to a depth of at least eight feet." tennessean.com/story/news/lo…

Portland is crazy. On another note, the black lesbian on Good Morning America was beside herself that a WNBA finals game had to be scheduled at noon so that a regular season NBA game could keep it's prime time slot.

@realpamphleteer notes that for the new Titans' stadium, the "build-out of the stadium's checkout-free markets is set to begin." There will not be cashiers and you will be auto-charged and 3,500 cameras will make sure you pay. Booster clubs and nonprofit groups raise over $1.5 million a year in Nissan Stadium by working concession stands. As far as I know, no one has addressed if this community benefit is being dropped like a 3rd and short pass, or if the Titans and stadium management will continue to support our food banks, high school bands, wrestling programs, and church groups.

The magic words: "West said that McIntosh said he was going to kill him" This occurs to me whenever I see people stuck in their cars surrounded by a mob. They should all listen closely, hear someone say they they are going to kill them, and step heavy on the gas.
🚨 UPDATE: A man shot by a Greyhound bus station security guard after throwing hot coffee in the guard's face was arrested Sunday night on an aggravated assault charge. The security guard, 39-year-old Douglas West, told detectives he was talking with a co-worker outside the station on Rep. John Lewis Way South when Jacorey McIntosh, 22, of Toxey, Alabama threw hot coffee in his face and started striking him. bit.ly/47BVkJ3

Nashville Security Guard Shoots 22-Year-Old Man After Alleged Coffee Attack Nashville, Tennessee —October 25, 2026 — At approximately 0725 hours, a 22-year-old man was shot by a security guard during a confrontation outside the Greyhound bus station in Nashville. Police identified the man as Jacory McIntosh and the security guard as Douglas West, 39. Investigators said West had previously told McIntosh to leave the station about 45 minutes before the incident. According to police, West was speaking with a coworker when McIntosh threw hot coffee into his face and began punching him. West was knocked to the ground twice. McIntosh then used a firearm magazine that had fallen from West’s security vest to strike him in the head. West told detectives that McIntosh threatened to kill him. Investigators reported that the video showed McIntosh throwing the coffee, charging at West, and punching him while on top of him. After getting up from the ground for a second time, West drew his firearm. Police said McIntosh made another movement toward West before the guard fired. McIntosh suffered gunshot wounds to his hip and leg. West sustained burns and contusions to his face and head. Police reported that no firearm was found on McIntosh and that the magazine allegedly used during the assault was recovered. McIntosh was released from the hospital and booked into jail on a felony aggravated assault charge. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $10,000. #police #cops #crime #policia #polizei #CrimeNews

What should we look at to see that Memphis has turned a corner and is becoming the Growth City in Tennessee and the Mid-South? Crime seems on the right track. Thanks, Trump. Cutting edge technology? Thanks, Elon. Schools, politics, middle class jobs? National recognition?
Replying to @WorkforLife3
Memphis numbers are because of rehabbing downtown structures that have become available. Drive around downtown, uptown, the edge, or south main and you will see lots of remaking the old new again. If you’re calling Memphis doomed, you couldn’t be more wrong.

With $500k right now I'd buy a solid duplex or small multifamily (2-4 units) in a cash-flow Midwest market like Indianapolis, Cleveland, or Memphis. Prices still let you hit 7-9% caps with decent rents, lower competition than coastal spots, and room for light value-add. High rates make pure income the priority over appreciation plays. All-cash or light leverage keeps it simple and resilient.

👀👀 The only common thing Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville have is that they're part of the state of Tennessee. Is the state of Tennessee responsible for this? Or is it just a coincidence that a boom city, a doomed City, and a city defined by Zoomers are all at the top of the list?
Replying to @nickgerli1
3) You can see that this is actually the largest supply glut of any Downtown area in the U.S. Reventure analyzed downtown ZIP codes in over 30 metro areas across the South and Midwest (along with some Western Markets). And Nashville's +110% inventory surplus is #1.
