It's World Milk Day and this year we’re shining a light on the women behind Australia’s dairy farms – their passion, skill and the role they play every day in producing high-quality milk.
Across the industry, women are central to farm businesses – leading teams, caring for animals, managing operations and helping drive the future of dairy. This campaign is about recognising and celebrating those contributions.
We’re encouraging you to get involved by showcasing the women in your own business and community. Share a photo, story or simple ‘milk moment’ that highlights their role – whether it’s in the dairy, out in the paddock, or the everyday moments that keep the farm running.
You can also support the campaign by sharing Dairy Australia content and helping tell the story of the people behind the milk Australians enjoy every day.
World Milk Day is a chance to recognise everyone involved in producing great dairy – and this year, it’s a great opportunity to put a spotlight on the women in your team.
Thanks for the role you play every day.

Celebrating World Milk Day!
TODAY – 1 June is World Milk Day, a day noted by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to recognise the importance of milk as a global food.
Milk is incredibly important to Australians, with over 95% of Australian households buying milk every single week!
It’s a multi billion dollar industry, not only domestically, but also in dairy exports, including whole milk powder, skim milk powder and value added baby formulas.
The World Milk Day theme this year is “Celebrating Women Farmers,” to honour the UN’s International Year of the Woman Farmer.
DIAA is happy to support World Milk Day and in so doing acknowledge women farmers, especially dairy farmers and our milk manufacturers on this day – and every day!
This year, World Milk Day organisers have produced a ‘Dairy Facts on a Page’ and handouts to help you share the wonderful story of milk and all its benefits with your customers. For more information, visit: worldmilkday.org
