There is no place for anti-Sikh hate or discrimination in Manitoba.
Proud of MLA Diljeet Brar for bringing together a resolution unanimously passed by the Manitoba Legislature to stand with Sikh Manitobans.
We are #OneManitoba and we will always stand together against hate.

Hate and racism have no place in Manitoba.
Today at Nagar Kirtan, we saw what is far stronger: faith, community and people gathered in celebration.
That spirit is stronger than any hateful and racists graffiti.
To Manitoba’s Sikh and Punjabi communities, thank you for everything you contribute to our province. Congratulations to everyone who came together to celebrate Nagar Kirtan.
We are stronger together.
We are #OneManitoba.
Hate and threats have no place in Manitoba.
The Nagar Kirtan procession has happened annually in Winnipeg for decades. It is a beautiful expression of faith, Sikhism, and community.
That spirit is stronger than any hateful graffiti.
I’ve spoken to leadership in the Sikh faith community to show Manitoba’s support in the face of this terrible racism and to ensure we have the resources in place needed for everyone at Nagar Kirton to be safe.
I, alongside members of our government, will show up tomorrow with members of the Sikh faith community. I encourage Manitobans to come together in that same spirit of unity.

The attack on Edmonton’s Sikh community is horrifying and unacceptable.
No Canadian should have to fear violence while gathering with their family, neighbours, or community of faith.
We stand in solidarity with the victims and the entire Sikh community, and we expect those responsible for violent crimes to be held to account.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their communities and places of worship, and we will continue to defend that right. We stand with the entire Sikh community across our province against recent acts of despicable violence over the last few days.
Our thoughts go out to the members of the Nanaksar Sikh Temple as well as the victims and their families today as we wish them a quick and full recovery.
Today’s attack once again affirms why the federal government must take bail and parole reform seriously. Violent repeat offenders must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and kept behind bars. Full stop.

WSO President Danish Singh said the organization has been warning that anti-Sikh hate is rising in Canada.
“We are deeply troubled by what has happened at Nanaksar Gurdwara this morning, but unfortunately we cannot say that we are surprised.”
