Modern TV flashlights vs The X-Files flashlights 😭
Why do Mulder and Scully's flashlights look like they're powered by a mini sun 💀
Bro, what were those things made of? Lightsabers?? 😭
The X-Files had movie-calibre lighting and cinematography on a TV budget, while pumping out 24 episodes a season.
Just think about that. The atmosphere they created with those resources was unreal.
Virgil Incanto from The X-Files episode “2Shy” deserves more attention as a genuinely creepy villain.
The way he uses loneliness and insecurity to make women trust him, all while hiding behind this cultured, gentlemanly persona, is disturbing as hell. He feels way too real.
sometimes i forget that the x-files was a sci-fi show and then they hit you with something as romantic as this 😭
If you could bring back one thing from the original x files for the reboot, what are you choosing?

Then you rewatch Season 1 of The X-Files and remember how dark television used to be.
The Vancouver seasons have this cold, damp and an almost dreamlike quality.
A lot of that came from the way the show was photographed on 35mm film, and from cinematographer John Bartley's willingness to let darkness remain darkness.
In some of his interviews, he talked about lighting the walls while leaving the actors in shadow, or lighting the actors while letting the background disappear.
And also Vancouver's rain, mist and forests weren't just scenery. The crew used backlighting and steam to turn ordinary locations into something genuinely eerie.
And honestly, that's much harder to replace than people think.
The ending of first and last episode of season 1 of The X-Files mirrors almost perfectly.
Scully’s clock ticks from 11:21 to 11:22, Mulder calls, and we cut to the Cigarette Smoking Man hiding something in a Pentagon vault.
Such a great detail.🙌
