Most Nigerians don’t necessarily want their presidential candidate to win because they believe he will perform well. They just want him to win so they can satisfy their ego, brag and tell the other side, “We told you.”

When the need arose to defeat the Democrats in the US, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stepped down and backed Trump, helping consolidate the opposition. In Nigeria, tribalism and ego won’t allow this. People would rather lose separately than unite and challenge the incumbent.

Since the 3 major 2027 candidates are from the 3 major regions and each is loved in their respective region, maybe we should just cancel the election. Let Atiku represent the North, Tinubu the South West, and Obi the South East/South South as Prime Ministers. Everybody wins.
