What an amazing day we are having! So many fabulous costumes and memorabilia brought in. We’ve had air raids where we’ve hidden under tables and created some wonderful Blitz artwork. #Oakyhistory #Y5Oaky
Year 5 had a very special visitor yesterday. Chris Bent came to talk to us all about his dad and some ex-pupils of Oakwood who were in the war. At times, it was very emotional, but the children were all enthralled by Chris and his stories. #Y5Oaky #OakyHistory
In history this week we became historians. Wearing our special white gloves, we inspected the school ‘Log Books’. We loved finding out more about the history of Oakwood. #Y5Oaky #OakyHistory
We have started learning our Christmas songs today in readiness for our performance at The Golden Square on 23rd November. Our choir is full of enthusiasm and are excited to perform. #OakyMusic @MedleyMusic1
We’ve been reading the book The Barnabus Project and written a monologue to be spoken as our hybrid creatures. Here are some fab examples of the children performing them during our class Monologue Slam. I think we have some budding actors in our midst. #Oakyenglish
Having fun, working on our teamwork, our resilience and our communication with our final session of Commando Joe. #OakyPE @CommandoJoes
We’ve been investigating volume today using cubes. The children love using these practical ways to help them answer their maths questions. #Oakymaths
A fun session with Commando Joe, working in pairs to get letters for their team to create as many words as they can. I wonder who will be the winner? #OakyPE @CommandoJoes
Today we’ve designed and created our own fashion outfits from old clothing. Thanks to everyone who sent clothes in. We can’t wait for the catwalk show tomorrow. #Oakywellbeing #Oakydt
We loved baking roti bread and cornflake cakes on Tuesday! Lots of children pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and tried foods they had never eaten before!
What a fantastic nature walk we had! It was lovely to see the children outside, playing together and making their own fun. #Oakywellbeing
Today’s wellbeing activity was a mindful nature walk around The Twiggeries and Paddington Meadows (your children should definitely sleep tonight). #Oakywellbeing
We finally got to taste our Roti bread; some children loved it, some weren’t sure, but almost everyone had a taste. #Oakywellbeing
The cooking started with Trinidadian Roti bread; a mixture of dough, peppers, carrot and cheese. #Oakywellbeing
Our second cooking activity was cereal cakes with chocolate, marshmallows and smarties. #Oakywellbeing
