Man, s/o everyone who pulled up to “A house of memory” act I. I really hate I couldn’t be there due to showing up and create necessary memories in my own world. Because of a team I can trust, I have the space to pour back into the communities that shaped and raised me.

"you’re not a good parent if you haven’t performed a little nepotism" shit ya know when you put it like that
Sylvester Stallone says that having his daughter in a major role in ‘TULSA KING’ Season 4 is absolutely nepotism.
“First they go, ‘Nepotism is terrible. I said, ‘Oh please, you’re not a good parent if you haven’t performed a little nepotism.' Then obviously you don’t care about your kids, because they come first.
Of course it’s nepotism, you idiot. That’s why we’re parents. We want the best for our children. So obviously, we let them have every advantage.”

If we valued our art, we would embed it in our homes the way it used to be done - carved on doors, marked on walls, placed in compounds.
It would have been passed down. Every generation would have seen it and known that African architecture was never minimalist. There would be no argument, because the evidence would still be standing in the houses we live in.
We stopped putting it in. Then we started forgetting what it looked like.
We rarely put African sculptures, masks, carvings, or paintings in our own homes. Then we get angry when we see them in the British Museum.
At the same time, many of us still fill our spaces with things brought in through colonization. That does not line up.
If we actually used our own art in our interiors, the demand would be here. Artists and makers would earn from it.
The conversation about where the pieces belong would make more sense, because we would already be treating them as part of how we live, not only as something we defend after someone else takes them.

A few pictures from my first art show :). I put my concert photography onto canvases, framed prints, posters. They were on display and for sale. :) 📸🖼️🍒

Apparently my tendency to give people I really like small gifts is actually a common neurodivergent thing called pebbling. Like a penguin.

Damon Wayans says that even at 65 years old, if Keenen tells him to get him a soda, he's going to go get it, because in their family, it’s all about an unspoken code of respect, seniority, and brotherly hierarchy.
“Yeah, but like even now, this is how my family is. Like, I'm 65 years old and Keenen goes, "Go get me a soda," and I got to go get it.”
“If Marlon walks in a room, and you know, if I walk in a room and there's no seats, Marlon gets up. Sean and Keenen will sit, and Marlon will get up and say, "You sit here." And my son will have to do the same thing.”
“That's why I love the fact that they have children. Because I go to my theater sometimes and little Damon's there and Mikey's there, and as soon as I walk in the room, the youngest one gets up and lets me sit down without question, and I love that.”
“It's just how we do with each other. It's just a quiet code. Some things you don't have to teach, it's just what you see.”
