Just got my author copies of "From Ruby to Elixir"!
Now that Twitter hides likes, you can like this tweet and no one will know you secretly like Elixir.

My biggest complaint with @loom was the awful awful Mac app. Well, it appears that may be fixed.
Just used the new one and it was smooth as butter. Biggest test will be if it runs into same multi-fullscreen bugs that the original client did.
All that matters is speed. Correctness does not matter. Crashes do not matter. Only speed.
Reading is not fast. Fault tolerance is not fast. Optimizing software is not fast.
Stop living in 2026, we're in the future now.
Can Github please fix it so that checking "Viewed" ALWAYS marks the file as viewed? 25% of the time it collapses and leaves it unchecked.
Another day of OpenAI continuing to be evil. I am not sure I can accept the argument that Anthropic is worse at this point.
The "new" Github PR experience (beta for a while now) is so frustratingly bad to use that I can't help wonder if employees actually use it.
If they do, that boggles my mind because it's absolutely trash compared to classic. (At least when it comes to usability.)
Honestly, really digging this little `mix test` wrapper I wrote. It rewrites a lib file to its corresponding test file (if named same way).
Run `mix test lib/my_app/file.ex` and have it run the correct `test/my_app/file_test.exs` file

Elixir v1.20 released! Now officially a gradually typed language: Elixir type checks every single line of code, finding bugs and dead code, without developer overhead (no typing signatures) and extremely low false positives rate. Plus a faster compiler! Links and reports below.

This book title is slightly deceptive, because you don't really need to know Ruby to benefit from it.
It could be called "Learn Elixir the way it clicked for me"
I haven't looked back since #myelixirstatus
Pattern matching will change the way that you write code. It’s a simple—yet extremely powerful—feature that’s built into the foundation of Elixir. And once you master it, you won’t want to go back.

It's embarrassing how bad @OpenAI support is. I can't tell if it's chat-bot based or human? (It's bad though.) If this is the future of chat support, please count me out.
I also truly can't figure out if they have a billing support team or not. This whole thing is weird.
I have officially hit a "do not use Fly" level right now. I cannot recommend it in good faith after issues over the past week and no critical downtime support.
I usually do a custom shoes order each year for team conference shoes. By far, @Vans has the worst custom support experience I've seen. Avoid.
Update on #myelixirstatus
Still 3 app servers + 2 Chrome PDF servers (can probably do 1): all shared-cpu-8x:2048MB
2000 -> 7000+ users, current RAM usage is average 320MB
Decreased RAM and increased CPU allocation as Fly changed how they enforce CPU slicing.
Appreciating Elixir #myelixirstatus:
~1.5M ARR business with > 2000 users
3 servers running @flydotio shared-cpu-2x:4096MB
< 200MB RAM average
42ms response time average
AND, we're super overprovisioned on servers. I had a memory leak and just fixed it. Will drop to 2GB servers
Pretty crappy that @telegram gates preventing new messages from unknown people behind a paywall (way way more $ than the value received), then has an awful spam problem that never gets better.
Charging for access to a SOC2 report is a strong negative indicator to me.
I don't think there's any blurry lines or edge cases—it's based 100% of the time.
This is especially true if your main customer base is startups.
@make_hq I was surprised to see y'all doing this bad practice
