(re)searching agency & dialectic forms. Ukraine, post-Sov, Europe, state/society/capital complex, human-nature dialectic. Political Economist @GPERC_UOG @CPERN

Joined March 2014
In this lecture & at @FESonline event ahead of #URC2024 I raised vital issues: UA needs a new social contract, human & nature centered recovery, exercise of Constitutional rights & guarantees inc ownership of land & natural resources by the UA people, not foreigner entities.
Building on historicized political economy of wartime Ukraine since 2014, @YPYurchenko's lecture illustrated that the state as an institution must be redefined. Watch one of this week's most popular IWM YouTube videos here: youtube.com/live/Zdf6AViJSNkโ€ฆ

Every Ukraine backer who argued Trump would not be so bad, Trump could be persuaded to back Ukraine, that Trump was getting irritated with Putin, that the US just wanted peace--should have the basic decency to admit that they made it all up. Trump was with Putin, always.

The endless absurdities of Jeffrey Sachs
Yeah, let's blame historic "Russophobia" of the British Empire for ruz.zia doing genocide in Ukraine. May I remind everyone that Sachs is a professor at the Columbia University, NY. The state of it. Also the shock therapy he thinks was bad for ru he personally designed.

We're delighted Vuฤiฤ‡ is gone. But opposing imperialism, whether Russian or Serbian, is hardly a peripheral issue for democracy. Solidarity with Serbian internationalists, who still have a hard fight.
Vuฤiฤ‡ falls! Solidarity to those fighting for democracy in Serbia. Essential to democracy: Support for Ukraine against Russia Recognition of Kosovo's independence

If this is right, it is appalling.
This is horrific. Residents of occupied Oleshky who wish to escape to free Ukraine will not be allowed to cross the Dnipro River โ€“ which is less than 4 km away. They will be taken to occupied Crimea or to the Russian Federation, where they will be subjected to coercive measures.

Our friend and colleague, Vladyslav Starodubtsev, was assaulted before his lecture on the history of the Left in Lviv. With RUTA, we call on the authorities to prosecute his assailants and to foster safety for scholars and social justice advocates in the city we hold dear.

Isn't it amusing to read all the car obsessed anti-Khan crowds lose it on social media over the Oxford st pedestrianisation while pretending it's about the disabled or the elderly not being able to get on a bus at the door of Selfridges? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Can't wait for more traffic free zones!
For decades, people talked about pedestrianising Oxford Street. Yesterday, we made it happen. Almost 1km of our nationโ€™s most famous high street is now officially traffic-free. And this is just the beginning. Weโ€™re transforming Oxford Street into a greener, safer, world-class destination that Londoners can be proud of. theguardian.com/cities/2026/โ€ฆ

Maybe nobody wants a fascist ru growing stronger, the kind appeasing of which makes the whole continent more unstable/postWWII order thrown away? PS no promises were made to USSR - Gorbachev said it's a myth + UA wasn't part of RU but USSR, stop conflating the two @profwolff
Itโ€™s genuinely refreshing to hear someone speak the unvarnished truth instead of peddling a carefully manufactured load of bullshit designed to deceive, manipulate, and brainwash the masses.....

Last year, #renewables supplied 85.6% of all new global power generation capacity. #Solar capacity grew by 510GW and #wind by 159GW, against just 1.5GW for new #nuclear. Thatโ€™s a 462:1 ratio. Put aside capacity, for actual annual electricity generation output, this means last year, new wind and solar supplied 104 times more usable power than new nuclear.

You can't negotiate with s/o who sees NATO as a single decision-making point entity & not an alliance where many sovereign country members are seeking protection from ruz.zia. pu seize the world like he sees ru - borderless. Post-WWII world order means nothing for him.
๐Ÿšจ Putin plans to use Ukraine peace talks to push NATO back to its 1997 military posture According to The Telegraph, the Kremlin wants to force NATO to scale back its military presence in Europe to levels seen before Eastern European countries joined the Alliance. This could mean demanding the withdrawal of NATO forces from Poland, the Baltic states, and Finland. That is why Moscow is pushing for European countries to participate in negotiations over Ukraine. Diplomatic sources cited by The Telegraph say Putin wants to turn talks about ending the war into negotiations over the entire European security architecture. The issue may also have been discussed during Putin's three-hour meeting with Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, in St. Petersburg. However, European countries have previously rejected the Kremlin's demands to reduce NATO's military presence on its eastern flank.

If you keep appeasing psychopaths & treat their unhinged claims as if they are legitimate, instead of punishing this rhetoric & threats harsh and outright, you're going to get such demands. Congratulations.
โšก๏ธ Russia aims to use Ukraine peace negotiations to push NATO back to its 1997 borders, according to The Telegraph. Diplomatic sources say Moscow wants European nations at the table to demand NATO clear out troops and equipment from countries along Russia's border.
