It is really disheartening, that someone scored an A or A- at KCSE, first of all of them succeed in studying engineering, and even when you get into the engineering class, there are exams that act as mchujo, so several are thrown out, you escape, then you put in 6-years of study and graduate with a BSc in Engineering, then they still refer to you as a graduate engineer for over 10 years, waiting to undergo interviews at the Engineering Board of Kenya or the Institute of Engineers of Kenya. There is a need to have the roles of these organisations reviewed to allow more Engineers into the market. Restricting entry into the market is what has led to reduced numbers of professional engineers and architects and high competition for their services, that why there is a black market for people to infiltrate and simply claim the space, this is because they too are engineers but locked out of practice by some old geezers at the helm.
