English teachers should have an additional prep period for reading and providing feedback on student writing. It takes over 8 hours for a writing teacher with 100 students to read and respond to a typical set of essays - and that's assuming only 5 minutes per essay. #bfc530

One reason people love the 5 paragraph essay is because it reduces writing down to a certain level of formalism educators can identify & grade. Is there a thesis? Are there 3 points? Body paragraphs? blah, blah, blah?
