π§΅Over the last few days Iβve been building out a scoring model using 654 qualifying player-seasons from 2014β2026.
Qualifications:
20+ PTS/75
25+ MPG
50+ games played
The goal was to measure more than just who scored the most or who was the most efficient. I wanted something that captured how much you scored, how efficiently you did it relative to your environment, how much actual scoring value you created, the pressure you put on defenses, how well you preserved possessions, and how that scoring translated to team offense.
Iβm going to start releasing the full rankings in groups of 50, along with breakdowns of some of the most interesting placements.
654 player-seasons. One scoring model. Rankings coming soon.

This Denver team is worse than I expected, and I was lower than the consensus

3-1 and this demon ready to be unleashed from the chamber
Iβm all for a good gimmick, but the Zyair one is so overdone at this point. He figured out what gets under peopleβs skin, got the checkmark, and has been running with it ever since.
Need some inverted PnP tonight with Tatum & Pritchard, want this dude to get loads of 3βs up tonight.
League praying the Spurs do this but I will feel terrible for Wemby.
Replying to @Hurtsknowsball
I get the Spector of Wemby looms over every decision okc will make from here on out but it shouldnβt. Donβt make roster decisions in relation to a team thatβs about to give Stephon Castle 250 million US dollars

the biggest difference between the public and analytics models on rating nba players is the public tends to value players more for 1v1 skills rather than 5v5 skills.
In 1v1, you either have the ball or are guarding the ball.
In 5v5, you are offball a lot on both ends, spacing, passing, rotating, reading passing lanes, boxing out and rebounding, and dealing with a much more cluttered and complicated game. it's a different set of skills.
nevertheless, the eyetest tends to focus on the 1v1 skills in the 5v5 game, because that's where the ball is.
of course, the 1v1 skills are very important in the 5v5 game, but there's another group of skills that shift the evaluation. so in JB's case, i think he's a top 15 1v1 player in the league, but ranks lower in 5v5, because he's not as strong in the 5v5 skills.
