Two new companion preprints, with replication packages and prediction registries. They both work on Bitcoin data: one is about the trend, one is about the noise. Links below.
I've been working for some time now on the Bitcoin Network from the perspective of games, complex systems and network theory analysis. While some of my objectives haven't been reached up to now, next week I will publish my results, which still contain quite a few novelties compared to the existing literature. I thank @Giovann35084111 and @moneyordebt for opening my eyes to this perspective. The evolution of the Bitcoin network is proving not only to be an interesting case study, but indeed a unique experiment for analyzing scaling regularities in complex systems. More ideas are required in this field. Sagacius ista.

LLMs accumulate a lot of declarative knowledge. That's how they can answer a large number of questions. That's also why they require so many parameters and hence so much memory. But one can replace the accumulation of knowledge by *understanding* That what JEPA world models do. That's one reason they can be useful with considerably less memory and training data than LLMs. This paper merely shows that the underlying similarity structure of the data, whether text or image (e.g. co-occurence of words in text or objects in images) uniquely determines the shape of the representation point cloud, when the encoder is trained trained with a common anti-collapse criterion like SIGReg or VCReg (not by reconstruction).

Eni is moving ahead with another major stage of Libya's offshore gas development. A new subsea tender for Structure E brings the $8bn Structures A&E project closer to its next phase, with production targeted for 2028. The bigger question: can Libya turn offshore investment into more gas for power generation and exports to Italy? Read our analysis: libyaeconomicreview.com/eni-…

The central message of this paper is relatively simple. Bitcoin's volatility declines approximately with the age of the network. But its volatility memory does not appear to expand in proportion to that age. At the same time, the statistical distribution of returns changes in a direction that challenges a specific class of stochastic-clock models. These findings suggest that the amplitude, memory, and shape of fluctuations should be treated as distinct properties, rather than assumed to be different expressions of one underlying process. A power law may describe how a system scales, but it does not, by itself, explain how the system evolves, and thus to which universality class that power law pertains. The general mathematical contribution is to show how assumptions about stationarity in logarithmic age generate exact restrictions on the relationship between returns observed at different stages of a system's development, and how stronger assumptions generate additional, testable predictions. The empirical contribution is to show that Bitcoin does not simply become a smaller version of its younger self. Its fluctuations change in more than one dimension, and those dimensions do not necessarily follow the same clock. Its behavior remains unique across crypto assets. This distinction is relevant beyond financial markets. For example, researchers studying earthquake aftershock sequences, growing networks, biological systems, or disordered materials may encounter processes in which the overall amplitude, persistence, and distributional shape evolve at different rates. The framework developed in this paper offers a way to formulate and test such possibilities, exploiting the broad availability of past and future data of the Bitcoin network. But it should be clear that those mentioned are potential applications on different datasets, not empirical findings established by the Bitcoin analysis itself.

2) How precisely can we estimate Bitcoin’s power-law exponent? It depends on what we assume about the residuals: uncertainty ranges from ±0.25 to roughly ±2 across plausible models. We show daily data cannot tell them apart. We also investigate the four year cycle and register forecasts for 2026–28. doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23933…

Applications of the disaggregation theorem to other aging complex systems, such as earthquakes, technological, social, and biological network growth, or materials subjected to fatigue, are mentioned but not yet expanded; I will discuss this further and introduce some early results.

Happening. It's easy to see the future once you patch different perspectives together with reasonable weights; the strategic equilibria emerge. Yann LeCun proved something along these lines for LLMs recently; it is indeed true for us. Allow me a Western civilization quote then, since we're entering this vibe-decade: “One of the most highly developed skills in contemporary Western civilization is dissection: the split-up of problems into their smallest possible components. We are good at it. So good, we often forget to put the pieces back together again.” A. Toffler
It's practically impossible for the house or the senate to flip Republican again in 2028. The only chance the Republicans have is thus to choose a presidential candidate who can work with the Democrats. And Marco Rubio was the only Secretary who was approved by the entire senate. 2028: Democrat House and Senate + Republican president to save Western Civilisation. That is the plan the world spirit is laying out right now. Bombs on Moscow, the border stays, no more support for slopulists in Europe, AI regulation. It's happening.

Big sweep at the midterms. Likely the beginning of the end of MAGA. Dems are bringing out some new faces and scaling back certain identitarian themes of the woke movement. The GOP, entirely Trump-centric over the last 10 years, finds itself in a position where it has to reform, and it's implausible that will happen in the next 2 years while Trump remains in power.

🇷🇴🇲🇩 NEW: ROMANIA & MOLDOVA SIGN FIRST-EVER JOINT MILITARY PROCUREMENT AGREEMENT Romania and Moldova have signed a landmark defence procurement agreement, enabling Moldova to acquire 62 IVECO military trucks in three configurations from Italian manufacturer IDV Defence Vehicles. The agreement allows Moldova to join Romania’s existing 2019 procurement framework, strengthening cooperation between the two countries. Key details: • 62 military logistics vehicles for Moldova’s National Army. • Three configurations, with specific variants yet to be disclosed. • Moldova will finance its vehicles through its national defence budget. • The procurement is associated with the EU’s SAFE framework. The agreement aims to modernise Moldova’s military logistics, improve operational capabilities and strengthen interoperability with Romanian forces. A significant step in defence cooperation between NATO-member Romania and Moldova, as security challenges persist across Europe’s eastern flank.
