🗞️📰I don't take any headline at face value. Not from one outlet, not from five.
Here is my process. I pull the same story from several sources, left, right, and international. I separate what is reported from what is claimed. I look for the documents, court filings, statutes, and official records. Then I check the numbers against each other and flag any discrepancies.
When outlets agree, I say so. When they don't, I show the gap. When a claim has no record behind it, I say that too.
No outrage, no spin, no guessing. Just what can be shown and where it came from.
Process over performance.
That is what the command center is built to do, and every post lists its sources so you can check me.

🚨 "I don't care who your daddy is."
Rick Ross' son says a man pulled a gun on him near Bethune-Cookman, threatened to kill him and hit him in the head with it. Police say a 20-year-old has been arrested. He has pleaded not guilty.

What we know about the Daytona Beach gun attack report involving Rick Ross' son
William Roberts III, the son of rapper Rick Ross and a 2025 Bethune-Cookman University football player, told Daytona Beach police he was threatened at gunpoint and struck in the head with a handgun on the night of Oct. 11.
The scene. According to the police report, as described by WFTV, WESH, WKMG and Complex, it happened around 9:40 p.m. near McLeod Avenue and Weaver Street, close to the BCU campus. Roberts III told officers he was on the sidewalk with a woman when a gray car pulled up. He said the driver got out holding a handgun, said "I don't care who your daddy is, I'll kill you right here," and hit him on the right side of his head.
The injury. The report describes minor swelling. Roberts III drove himself home, did not seek medical treatment, and reported the incident the next day, telling police he was in fear.
The motive, as police describe it. Officers wrote that Roberts III believed the attack was tied to the suspect's past relationship with the woman he was with.
The arrest. Roberts III picked the suspect out of a photo lineup. City cameras did not capture the incident, police said. WKMG and WESH report that a 20-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested. Complex reports he turned himself in on Oct. 16 and faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Despite the shared last name, outlets report the two men are not related.
In court. Complex reports the suspect pleaded not guilty on Oct. 19, and that a bond hearing is set for Wednesday, Oct. 21. We have not confirmed those court details with a second outlet.
What is still provisional:
• The account of the attack, including the quote, comes from the victim's statement in the police report. None of it has been tested in court.
• Outlets disagree on the suspect's name suffix, so we are not naming him until that is settled.
• BCU told WFTV that "Roberts" was dismissed from the team before the 2026 season for disciplinary reasons, but the statement does not say which person it means.
• There has been no public comment from Rick Ross or the family.
An arrest is an accusation, not a conviction. The suspect is presumed innocent.
What ZB30 is watching next: the bond hearing outcome, the formal charging decision by the State Attorney's Office, and any statement from the family or the university.

THE PRISON CHIEF IS OUT. CHRISTA PIKE IS STILL ON A VENTILATOR. TENNESSEE STILL HAS NO ANSWERS.
Status as of about 3:45 PM ET, Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.
Three days after Tennessee gave Christa Pike two doses of pentobarbital and she did not die, the man who runs the state's prisons is leaving. Gov. Bill Lee announced Saturday morning that Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) Commissioner Frank Strada has offered his resignation and will step down this month. It is the first major staff change since Wednesday's failed execution, and it lands while Pike is still in a Nashville-area hospital.
WHAT IS NEW TODAY
• The resignation. Strada "has offered his resignation and will step down from his role this month," the governor's office said. No exact date was given.
• Lee's words: "Commissioner Strada has served with integrity, and I appreciate his willingness to put the interests of Tennesseans first during this difficult moment. I have accepted his decision to step down and am grateful for his commitment to ensuring a smooth leadership transition."
• Strada's words: he said he continues "to believe the Department carried out its responsibilities in accordance with the established protocol," but that "stepping aside is in the best interest of Tennesseans as the independent review moves forward."
• Who replaces him: nobody yet. "An interim commissioner will be announced at a later date," the governor's office said.
• Pike's lawyers (Randy Spivey and Kelly Gleason of the Tennessee Office of the Post-Conviction Defender, and Stephen Ferrell and Luke Ihnen of Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee): "The resignation of Commissioner Strada is justified, but it does nothing to help Christa now. What happened to her Wednesday reflects a systemic failure that goes far beyond any one person."
• Pressure had been building. AP reports some of Lee's fellow Republicans and other elected officials had been urging a change in leadership.
PIKE'S CONDITION: NO NEW UPDATE TODAY
Her legal team's most recent account is Friday's court filing, which described her condition as of late Thursday: intubated, on a ventilator, unconscious, with significant injuries to both arms, while hospital staff worked to clear the pentobarbital from her body. Their Saturday statement on Strada did not update her condition, and the state has not described it. ZB30 found no report of a change as of this afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
• 2: failed Tennessee executions since May (Tony Carruthers in May, Pike on Sept. 30).
• 2: doses of pentobarbital Pike received Wednesday.
• 7: needles, at least, used trying to find a vein, per her lawyers.
• 4: people Tennessee has executed since 2025, per TDOC (via AP).
• January 2023: when Lee named Strada commissioner.
• 0: interim commissioners named so far.
WHO IS FRANK STRADA
Before Tennessee, Strada was deputy director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and The Hill reports he spent 30 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In late 2024 he announced Tennessee would use pentobarbital alone in lethal injections. Kit Thomas of the Federal Public Defender's office in Middle Tennessee said Saturday that the resignation "does not change the fact that Tennessee is shrouding its executions in secrecy," and argued the protocol adopted under Strada "weakened protections." That is an advocate's claim, not a finding.
THE PATTERN
In May, the state stopped Carruthers' execution after staff placed one IV in his right arm but could not set the required second line. Lee ordered a wait of at least a year. On Wednesday, Pike received two full doses and survived. Her lawyers say the IV lines were not correctly placed and the drug went, in whole or in part, into her body instead of her bloodstream. TDOC has said it "followed every step" of its protocol, and Strada repeated that position today.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
• The review: at Lee's request, the Attorney General's Office has retained former U.S. Attorney Ed Stanton to examine whether the protocol was followed and whether changes are needed, WVLT reports. Stanton led the 2022 review that forced a rewrite of the protocol.
• Executions: Lee has called off the remaining scheduled 2026 execution, and Pike's execution is delayed until at least next year, per The Hill.
• Evidence: Pike's lawyers have asked a Davidson County court to order TDOC to preserve all evidence from the attempt.
• The method debate: AP reports Republican state lawmakers want Tennessee to review whether to stop single-drug lethal injections and consider other options. WVLT notes the issue will likely land with the legislature when it reconvenes in January.
THE CASE
Pike, now 50, was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, 19, a fellow student at the Job Corps Center in Knoxville. According to court records cited by CBS News, Pike, then 18, tortured and killed her. She would have been the first woman executed in Tennessee since the 1800s.
OPEN QUESTIONS
• Pike's prognosis. Nobody has given one publicly.
• Who leads TDOC in the interim, and the exact day Strada leaves.
• When Stanton's review reports, and whether it will be made public.
• Whether Tennessee keeps single-drug pentobarbital, changes methods, or pauses longer.
• Whether the state ever seeks a new execution date for Pike, or whether Lee acts on her lawyers' call for commutation.
YOUR TURN
Should Tennessee pause the death penalty until the review is done, or switch execution methods? Tell us why below. Keep it civil.

SEARCH UNDERWAY OFF NANTUCKET: What we know about the missing Gulfstream G100 air ambulance
Six people were aboard a medical transport jet that vanished from radar south of Nantucket early Saturday, Oct. 3, on a flight from Bermuda to Boston. As of early Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard search remains active. No wreckage and no survivors have been confirmed located.
THE AIRCRAFT
A Gulfstream G100 business jet, Canadian registration C-GRJP, the tail number the Coast Guard released. It is registered to Latitude Air Ambulance, a company based in Hamilton, Ontario, according to the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register as reported by CBC News. Latitude says it flies medical evacuation and repatriation missions and operates four G100s in a fleet of 10 aircraft.
WHO WAS ABOARD
Six people: four crew and two passengers, per Bermuda airport operator Skyport. Latitude's director of flight operations, Clarence Togeretz, told CBC the crew were two pilots and two medical staff, all Canadian. The passengers were a patient and a relative, who are not Canadian. No names have been released, and ZB30 will not publish any until officials or families do.
TIMELINE (ET, from official statements and published reports)
Fri. about 11:40 PM: Departs L.F. Wade International Airport, Bermuda, per FlightAware data cited by CBS News. Skyport gave the departure as 12:41 AM Saturday; Bermuda runs one hour ahead of ET.
Overnight: The pilot declares an emergency with New York controllers and reports electrical issues, according to ABC as cited by WCVB. In recorded audio, a controller acknowledges the pilot saying he was "coming in blind" and says he is having trouble hearing the pilot. NBC News reports Boston tower audio in which controllers ask the jet whether it is "coming in blind" and later ask another aircraft to try to reach it.
Before contact ends: FlightAware data shows the jet dropping from about 24,000 feet to about 11,000 feet.
1:20 AM: The FAA issues a search and rescue alert notice.
About 1:30 AM: Scheduled arrival at Boston Logan. Latitude says it lost track of the flight around this time as it approached Boston.
About 2:00 AM: The FAA notifies the Coast Guard command center that contact was lost.
6:15 AM: Coast Guard Northeast posts the search publicly on X.
Early afternoon: Search continues. WCVB reports the area is about 13 nautical miles off Nantucket and roughly 30 by 20 nautical miles.
THE SEARCH
Coast Guard assets listed in published reports:
HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew, Air Station Cape Cod
MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, Air Station Cape Cod
HC-130 Hercules airplane crew, Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C.
47-foot motor lifeboat crew, Station Brant Point, Nantucket
Cutter William Sparling, a Boston-based fast response cutter
Flight tracking data showed search aircraft flying grid patterns south of the island. Emergency radio traffic asked vessels to keep a "sharp lookout" for a possible aircraft in the water. On land, Nantucket Police and Harbormaster crews have searched the south shore by truck and ATV, according to the Nantucket Current.
WHO IS INVOLVED
FAA: coordinating with the Coast Guard and the Rescue Coordination Center.
Transportation Safety Board of Canada: gathering information.
Canada's transport minister, Steven MacKinnon, says Ottawa is closely monitoring and working with U.S. authorities.
Bermuda's government says it is in contact with the families. Premier David Burt: "We are praying that all six people will be found safe."
Massport says the jet did not arrive as scheduled: "Our thoughts are with those on board and their loved ones as the search continues."
Latitude Air Ambulance says this is the first time it has lost contact with one of its aircraft and that it is "praying for a safe outcome."
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
Why contact was lost. Electrical trouble was reported over the radio, but no cause has been determined, and nobody should treat it as one yet.
Exactly where the jet was when its signal ended.
Whether an emergency locator transmitter signal was received. No officials have said.
Who was aboard. Names have not been released.
How long the active search will run. The Coast Guard says it will post updates as information becomes available.
WHAT ZB30 IS WATCHING
New Coast Guard Northeast updates on X, any confirmed debris or recovery, whether the NTSB or Canada's TSB takes the lead on an investigation, and the release of FAA air traffic audio and radar data.
This is a search, not a story with an ending yet. Six people, their families, and the crews out on the water deserve facts, not guesses.

Oktoberfest's Devil's Wheel ride is handing women free cycling shorts after 32,000+ upskirting clips of its riders turned up on Meta alone.
Upskirting is a crime in Germany. BR says the clip makers mostly can't be touched.
ZB30 on scene. 🐾
THIS IS OUR WORLD NOW: OKTOBERFEST IS HANDING OUT SHORTS
The BBC headline reads like satire. It is not. Here is what is verified, what is disputed, and what nobody has answered yet.
WHAT IS HAPPENING
The Teufelsrad, or Devil's Wheel, is one of the oldest rides at Munich's Oktoberfest and has been running for more than a century. Riders sit on a spinning disc that turns faster and faster until they slide off. In a dirndl, skirts fly up.
The ride's operator, Elisabeth Polaczy, 80, told the BBC she has handed out free cycling shorts to women and girls in dresses for the past three years. More than 100 pairs this year alone, she says. The Local reported around 600 pairs were expected to be available this Wiesn. dpa puts the total at an estimated several hundred since last year.
To be precise: this is one ride operator doing it, not the festival handing shorts to every woman at the gate. The tent carries German and English signs plus Bavarian police posters warning that upskirting is a crime. In this year's videos, announcements can be heard asking visitors not to film under skirts. Some Oktoberfest waitresses told the BBC they now wear cycling shorts under their dirndls too.
THE SCALE
Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported on Sept 21, just before the festival opened, that more than 32,000 clips of women on the Teufelsrad were on Meta's platforms (Facebook and Instagram) alone, with thousands more on YouTube and TikTok. The finds came from Benjamin Shultz, an external doctoral researcher in digital innovation at Hochschule Neu-Ulm. Many of the accounts were AI-generated and posted nothing but Teufelsrad footage. Some pushed paid subscriptions. Others embedded phishing links. When he flagged them, most accounts came down. Weeks later, dozens of new ones had appeared.
THE MONEY
Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) followed the trail on Sept 29:
1. A man from Bavaria linked to dozens of accounts. The most successful videos from those accounts, since deleted, drew several hundred million views combined.
2. A woman from Upper Bavaria who said on X in 2024 that she shot more than 600 videos during the festival. She claimed she made 9,000 euros overnight from a single clip and offered more than 500 unpublished videos for a few hundred euros.
3. A Ukrainian YouTube community with thousands of members. Accounts in its orbit used thumbnails with porn images pasted onto Teufelsrad scenes.
4. A Telegram ad pricing footage at 6 euros per minute if only women were on the wheel, 1.50 euros if men were in it too.
None of the identified people answered BR's questions. Google, Meta and TikTok told BR they removed videos and accounts after being asked. Investigators have not confirmed BR's view figures.
THE LAW, AND THE GAP
Germany criminalised upskirting on Jan 1, 2021. Section 184k StGB carries up to two years in prison or a fine for knowingly making unauthorised images of genitals, buttocks, breasts, or the underwear covering them, where those areas are shielded from view. Sharing such images is also covered.
The problem: BR and tagesschau report the law often does not bite at the Teufelsrad. If someone films the whole wheel, if the focus is not on the intimate area, or if the woman is wearing shorts, Section 184k usually does not apply. Oktoberfest is a public event, so filming people there is allowed in some cases. Josephine Ballon of HateAid told the BBC the law "applies only when you film under the skirt," not when a skirt flies up and gets photographed. She says a new law is planned and flags camera glasses as the next threat. tagesschau's bottom line: the people behind the clips are mostly beyond legal reach. Per dpa, the operators filed two complaints with prosecutors. Both were dropped.
THE ENFORCEMENT NUMBERS (THEY DON'T MATCH)
On Sept 21, police detained a 45-year-old Swiss man in a festival tent after a witness saw him filming under a 46-year-old woman's dirndl. Police found the video, seized the phone, opened a Section 184k case, took a security deposit (a mid four-figure sum) and released him.
The BBC cites 10 arrests for upskirting last year and 7 in 2024. Munich police told taz something different: six cases so far this year, none at the Teufelsrad, and 11 upskirting complaints plus one downblousing case in 2025, also none at the Teufelsrad. Arrests versus complaints may explain part of the gap. It still needs an answer.
THE CITY
Munich bans livestreaming from the festival and requires paid permits to film. Hundreds of licences went to influencers this year (BBC). Wiesn chief Christian Scharpf called the clip trade "a disgrace" (The Local). After advice from the city's equal opportunity office, the operators repainted the papier-mache women above the ride's entrance. One figure went from bikini to dress.
STAKES
Thousands of clips. Hundreds of millions of views. Money changing hands. Six police cases at the festival so far, none at the wheel. The fix on offer is women wearing more fabric. Critics, including a derStandard column, call that putting the burden on the filmed rather than the filmers. The operator's answer: "I want to do everything I can to make people feel secure."
OPEN QUESTIONS
1. Will Germany's planned upskirting reform cover a skirt that flies up on its own, and when?
2. Are Munich prosecutors investigating the accounts BR identified?
3. Why do the BBC and taz arrest and complaint numbers differ?
4. Will Meta, YouTube and TikTok stop re-uploads, or keep deleting only when reporters call?
5. Does the Teufelsrad change its rules for 2027?
The 191st Oktoberfest runs to Sunday, Oct 4. Police say the final tally comes in about two months. ZB30 is watching for it.

TWO SYRINGES, A HEARTBEAT AND A MIDNIGHT DEADLINE: WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTA PIKE AT RIVERBEND
Status as of about 11 PM ET, Sept. 30, 2026: The Associated Press, citing media witnesses, reports Tennessee officials "were unable to put Christa Gail Pike to death" Wednesday night. Her lawyers say she was still alive after two syringes of lethal-injection drugs. No official has publicly confirmed her condition or location. Anything beyond the court record is provisional.
THE PLACE AND THE PARTIES
Riverbend Maximum Security Institution, Nashville. The state: the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), Warden Kenneth Nelsen and Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti's office. The condemned: Christa Gail Pike, 50, Tennessee's only woman on death row, whose legal team includes Luke Ihnen (counsel of record, Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee), Stephen Ferrell, Amy Harwell, Kelley Gleason and Randy Spivey. Had it been completed, this would have been the state's first execution of a woman in at least 200 years, per the Death Penalty Information Center.
THE CRIME
On Jan. 12, 1995, Pike, then 18, lured 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, a fellow Job Corps student, to a wooded area in Knoxville, where Pike cut her with a box cutter and beat her with a large chunk of asphalt, AP reports. Pike's boyfriend, Tadaryl Shipp, 17, admitted carving a pentagram into Slemmer's body and received life with the possibility of parole. Pike, convicted in 1996, was the only one sentenced to death. Pike does not deny the killing. Slemmer's mother, May Martinez, traveled from Florida to witness the execution and told AP: "Every time I think about it, I think about Colleen feeling that pain and trying to get up and run."
THE TIMELINE (Central Time, Nashville)
Morning: About an hour before the scheduled 10 a.m. execution, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-1 to stay it, to weigh whether her childhood sexual abuse claims were fully considered at sentencing. Judge Jane Branstetter Stranch wrote for the majority; Judge Richard Griffin dissented.
Same day: The state filed Supreme Court application 26A428, arguing the stay rewarded "abusive delay tactics."
Just before 6 p.m.: The Supreme Court vacated the stay, 6-3 per ABC News, in an unexplained order. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, dissented: "Stunningly, the Court acquiesces."
6:41 p.m.: Witnesses enter the viewing room (WVLT).
7:26 p.m.: Curtain opens. Witnesses quoted her saying "my arm feels like it's about to burst open."
7:46 p.m.: Curtain closes. 7:49: reopens. Pike heard loudly snoring.
8:05 to 8:06 p.m.: Curtain closes again. Snoring audible until the microphone was cut at about 8:53, when witnesses were escorted out.
Later: Emergency vehicles arrive at the prison (AP photo).
THE METHOD
Tennessee uses lethal injection. AP reports officials "appeared to give Pike two doses of pentobarbital." Her lawyers' emergency motion, quoted by the Daily Mail, says: "Ms. Pike has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat and is audibly snoring." Gleason, relaying Spivey, who was in the chamber, said: "She's alive and snoring." WSMV reports Dr. Mark Fowler, involved in the May attempt on Tony Carruthers (abandoned after staff failed to establish IV access for over an hour), oversaw this one. In August, her lawyers argued a blood disorder, thrombocytosis, and hard-to-access veins raised a risk of severe pain; Senior Judge Mark Ward found the evidence did not show that risk.
THE LEGAL FIGHT TONIGHT
AP says her lawyers asked the U.S. Supreme Court, the 6th Circuit and the district court to halt the execution, calling it "unnecessary agony," and demanded lifesaving care: "Failure to provide such care constitutes deliberate indifference to legitimate, serious medical needs." The Tennessean, via the Daily Mail, reports Harwell was driving a motion to the Tennessee Supreme Court. TDOC spokesperson Dorinda Carter told witnesses she could not immediately provide information.
THE STAKES
The execution order expires at midnight, according to Nashville death penalty attorney Kelley Henry. If it lapses, the Tennessee Supreme Court would need to set a new date. History offers hard precedent: in Louisiana ex rel. Francis v. Resweber (1947), the Supreme Court let Louisiana try again after a failed electrocution, and Ohio's 2009 failed attempt on Romell Broom spawned years of litigation over a second try. Expect an Eighth Amendment fight over whether a second attempt is constitutional, and fresh scrutiny of a protocol already questioned after the May Carruthers attempt.
WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW
Her current medical condition and whether she left Riverbend. What exactly was injected, in what dose and through how many IV lines. What happened between 8:06 and 8:53 behind the curtain. Whether TDOC will try again before midnight. How each court rules. TDOC has not made a public statement.
