I asked some Mass Effect Universe devs about this and this isn't even true. There were same sex romances of course, but no flags in the game which isn't even said in the article itself. Totally misleading headline.

ALT BioWare Was Asked to Remove LGBTQ Flag from Canceled Mass Effect Game, Report Says
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Polygon headline claims BioWare "was asked to remove LGBTQ flag," but BFM journalist clarifies devs proactively removed a flag resembling (not the actual) Pride flag from a demo to anticipate feedback, not to hide elements.

Electronic Arts' main account has been silent for quite some time now.
If EA thinks staying silent and waiting for the community to move on will be enough, they're wrong. We're not going anywhere. We're not forgetting.
WE WILL HOLD THE LINE! ❤️

Mind you Sonic fans bullied a studio into changing Sonic’s design in a movie. SEGA wanted to cancel the whole franchise. That movie became a success and ended up saving it.
Never doubt what a fanbase can do. Now it’s our turn. #SaveMassEffect c.org/88D9JXRvNB

Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I'm a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I'll see what I can do! I don't wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU.

Composer Austin Wintory (Journey, ABZÛ, Assassin's Creed Syndicate) reveals he was in talks with BioWare and EA over the past couple of years to work on Mass Effect!

Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!
