“Why do some British people dislike Donald Trump?”
Nate White, an eloquent and witty English writer, gave this magnificent answer:
Trump lacks certain qualities that the British traditionally value.
He has no nobility, no charm, no composure, no gravitas, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour, and no grace — qualities with which, strangely enough, his predecessor, Mr Obama, was abundantly blessed.
Although Trump may be ridiculous, he has never said anything ironic, amusing, or even remotely funny — not once, ever. I do not mean this rhetorically. I mean it literally: never. To the British, a lack of humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it is a fact. He does not even seem to understand what a joke is. To him, a joke is a crude remark, an illiterate insult, an act of casual cruelty.
Trump is like a troll: he never laughs or enjoys himself; he merely squeals with delight or derision.
And the most frightening thing is that he does not merely utter crude and stupid insults: he actually means them. His mind is nothing more than a robotic algorithm of petty prejudices and instinctive malice.
There is no irony in him, no complexity, no subtlety, no depth. Everything is superficial. What we see is a man without an inner world, without a soul.
In Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are courageous underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither courageous nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite.
He is not even merely a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat. He is more like a giant white slug, a privileged Jabba the Hutt.
And, worse still, he is a bully.
When he finds himself among other bullies, he suddenly becomes a whining lackey.
He punches down — something a gentleman should never, could never, and must never do — and every blow he delivers is below the belt. He particularly enjoys attacking the vulnerable or the voiceless, and he kicks them when they are down.
That is why the fact that a substantial minority — perhaps a third — of Americans watch what he does, listen to what he says, and then think, “Yes, he seems like my kind of guy,” is a source of bewilderment and profound distress to the British.
After all, it is impossible to read a single tweet of his or hear him utter a sentence or two without staring into the abyss. He turns shallowness into an art form. He is the Picasso of pettiness, the Shakespeare of shit. His flaws are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on to infinity.
There have always been stupid people in the world, and villains have never been in short supply either. But rarely has stupidity been so evil, or evil so stupid.
He makes Nixon seem trustworthy and George W. Bush seem intelligent.
If Frankenstein had decided to create a monster composed entirely of human flaws, he would have created Trump, and the remorseful Dr Frankenstein would have cried out in despair, “My God, what have I created?”
If an idiot were a television show, Trump would be the entire set.

Meet MAGAt influencer Nicholas John Sortor @nicksortor, a prominent conservative social media commentator who is currently classified as an active fugitive by the state of Kentucky. In September 2022, Sortor was booked by law enforcement in Franklin County, Kentucky, and was ultimately convicted of third-degree criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor involving intentional or wanton property damage. Following the conviction, a Kentucky court handed down a 90-day jail sentence, which was suspended in favor of active probation supervision.
By January 2024, the Kentucky Department of Corrections officially updated Sortor’s record to "Probation (Misdemeanant) — ABSCONDED" after he allegedly failed to maintain contact with his probation officer or notify authorities of his whereabouts.
The background details of his Kentucky record include graphic allegations of physical violence against a woman. In 2020, Sortor faced heavy legal scrutiny following a felony burglary arrest in Kentucky. According to police allegations and local public records from the incident, Sortor allegedly forced his way into a woman's apartment, grabbed her by the hair, and slapped her after she rejected his sexual advances, before unlawfully taking her dog. While he avoided a felony conviction by pleading guilty to the lesser criminal mischief charge, the violent nature of the original 2020 encounter remains documented in public records.
Because his 90-day sentence remains unserved, his current fugitive status means he faces an active bench warrant and immediate jail time if apprehended within the state of Kentucky.

Let's be very clear on this one point.
The President mocking a former President in front of the communist leader of China is the most un-American thing an American president has ever done.

As of today, Trump has lifted tariffs on Canadian salt, cement, and toilet paper.
Apparently, the White House was running dangerously low on Trump’s diapers. 😏🇨🇦🇺🇸

My Lord.
@JoeBiden, 83 years old, battling Stage 4 cancer that has spread to his bones, stood for HOURS alongside @DrBiden as the names of 9/11 victims were read.
Donald Trump fell asleep at the 9/11 event at the Pentagon.
One showed respect despite his pain. The other couldn't even stay awake.
Trump is an embarrassment to the nation and the office he holds.
Really says it all.

🌀 “AMERICA FIRST” — BUT THERE’S ONE SMALL CATCH: HOW CANADA REMINDED TRUMP OF THE LAWS OF PHYSICS
Everyone remembers Donald Trump’s favorite political mantra: America First.
The idea was beautifully simple: slap tariffs on everyone around you, protect the domestic market, and American manufacturers will be swimming in gold.
But in geopolitics, just as in physics, nobody has repealed Newton’s Third Law:
Every action produces a reaction.
And now Ottawa has imposed retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on C$27.6 billion worth of American goods.
American steel, aluminum, agricultural machinery, consumer electronics and dairy products are among those being hit.
Canada essentially took Trump’s own tariff strategy and sent it straight back across the border — dollar for dollar.
And here comes the irony.
The people likely to suffer most are precisely those Trump promised to “protect first.”
American farmers and manufacturers — including many in states that voted for Trump — are suddenly discovering that their largest and closest export market can close its doors too.
Meanwhile, American consumers get hit from both directions: imports become more expensive at home while American exporters lose business abroad.
The plan was to “Make America Great” at the expense of its neighbors.
Instead, America got a trade war with one of its closest and historically most reliable partners — where every tariff imposed by Washington can come bouncing back into American wallets.
SO:
As the saying goes, you reap what you sow.
“America First” — now apparently first on Canada’s tariff list, too.

Canada Opens the Door to Chinese EVs
Canada has cut its punishing 100 percent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles down to 6.1 percent, agreed after Prime Minister Mark Carney’s January talks with Beijing. In exchange, China lowered duties on Canadian canola and other farm exports. The deal allows a growing quota, starting at 49,000 vehicles this year and rising toward 70,000 by 2030, with permits split across two application windows.
For American automakers, the shift stings a little. Ottawa is diverging sharply from Washington’s hardline stance against Chinese EVs, and cheaper competitors like BYD will now undercut US brands including Tesla and GM in the Canadian market, likely pressuring prices and market share for vehicles exported north from the United States.
