The @CaltechEAS Trailblazers Symposium (Oct 7-8, 2025) is an incredible opportunity for young researchers 1-2 years from the faculty job market. I participated as a postdoc, and it had a tremendous impact on my job search.
Please share with outstanding postdocs & PhD students!

Join #HopkinsBME today at 1pm in Ballroom I-IV for a special session featuring panel discussions to highlight future research directions and the potential for impact related to each of the five Grand Challenges. #BMES2024
If you are interested in a postdoc or PhD starting in 2025, and have a background or interest in EE, BioE, MechE, MSE, or a related field, please send me your CV at [email protected]
Huge thanks to my advisors @CMLieber @zhenanbao @KarlDeisseroth and all of my collaborators and friends!
I'm thrilled to share that I will join @Caltech @CaltechEAS as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Engineering in March 2025!
The Zhang Lab will advance neurotechnology through electronic, chemical, and genetic engineering, with the goal of understanding and treating neurological disorders. mede.caltech.edu/people/anqi…
Excited to share our new Review paper on the applications of in situ-synthesized abiotic polymers on living cells, published today in @NatureSynthesis! Thank my advisors @zhenanbao and @KarlDeisseroth for their tremendous support! nature.com/articles/s44160-0…
Thank Stanford eWEAR @grace_huckins for highlighting our work!
When @ZhangAnqi arrived at Stanford University as a postdoc in the labs of @zhenanbao & @KarlDeisseroth, she had just spent 6 years learning to design & build brain implants: miniscule devices that record the activity of neurons with minimal tissue damage. cheme.stanford.edu/key-assem…
Really excited to share our work on using flexible electronics for cell-type–specific targeting and recording in the brain, published in @ScienceAdvances! Many thanks to my co-author @Stray_Scientist and my PhD advisor @CMLieber for their tremendous help! science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…
Excited to share our recent Perspective on constructing functional materials in biological systems!
Genetically targeted chemical assembly (GTCA) uses cell-specific genetic information to instruct chemical synthesis in situ. In this Perspective,@KarlDeisseroth @zhenanbao discuss how to expand the GTCA toolbox and diversify its applications. @Stanford

Probing the inner brain—without surgery: In a new Science study, an ultra-small and ultra-flexible electronic neural implant, delivered via blood vessels, was able to record single-neuron activity deep within the brains of rats. scim.ag/3rz; scim.ag/3ry
Thrilled to share our work in @ScienceMagazine today. We report a flexible probe that is delivered into the brain through blood vessels without open skull surgery, for neural recording across the vessel wall. @StanfordEng @HarvardCCB @MGH_RI @StanfordMed science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…
The probe can move forward smoothly in tiny (less than 100 micrometers) blood vessels that overlay different brain regions without causing damage. Because the probe can reach tiny vessels with thin vessel walls, it can record single-neuron activity across the vessel wall!
Thank my very supportive PhD advisor Charles Lieber, postdoc advisors Zhenan Bao and Karl Deisseroth, my amazing collaborators Eng Lo and Creed Stary, and the postdoc fellowship from @AHA_Research for supporting my work!
Very excited to be on the Program Committee of the Cambridge Bioelectronics Symposium! Submit an abstract by April 30 if you're interested!!
