Labor’s inaction on the housing crisis is forcing women to choose between violence & homelessness. Specialist Homelessness Services are receiving on average 350 requests each day they can’t meet. Women & children are the majority of clients & over 40% of cases are DV related.

Estimates is back at 2:30pm, & the government will again be grilled over its unlawful system of mutual obligations & payment suspensions We already know there's no legal or moral defence for this level of harm and maladministration. This is just one example the gov can't hide
An injured 54 year old single mum tells ACA her JobSeeker has been suspended by her provider 8 times in the last month — meaning she hasn't been able to eat "It just makes you feel sick, it makes you worry because...your life's in their hands" #AbolishMutualObligations

"Centrelink has refunded only 338 of the 44,000 people who overpaid their debt to the social services provider. Around 2,700 people who were owed refunds died before the problem was identified." sbs.com.au/news/article/44-0…

Our piece in The Convo today re the Govt’s last min change to cancel social security for those with outstanding warrants — reversing the presumption of innocence and blurring the separation of powers. ⁦@antipovertycent⁩ theconversation.com/with-a-s…

Labor and Liberal have just voted to ensure that police can cut Centrelink payments and also voted against transparency where the powers would be subject to parliamentary scrutiny. Shame.

Thanks to you and @SenatorThorpe for tabling our letter in parliament yesterday. Schedule 5 must be removed from this Bill. The Govt should stop seeking to punish social security recipients every chance it gets. @antipovertycent

@JeremyPoxon of @antipovertycent reflects that in the light of Robodebt and mutual obligations: "being unlawfully harmed by the Australian welfare system is now a core experience" of those receiving social security... @AusSocialIssues

This is the system that costs the government over $4 billion a year. Today @MurrayWatt told the senate that Labor does not support "punitive" mutual obligations. What is this, if not punitive? If you feel punished for being poor, please let him know if you feel up to doing so.

@auwu @antipovertycent Was too fatigued & in pain to attend a face-to-face appointment last Thurs, & messaged my case worker at 9 o'clock on the dot to make it a phone appointment. He's usually been understanding & accommodated that flexibility, but I didn't hear back, or
