The other day, Taryn came downstairs, gave me a hug, and carefully said, “May I please have bacon, oval eggs, toast with butter, and coffee for breakfast?” She calls hard boiled eggs oval eggs for whatever reason. She spoke slowly and you could tell she put a lot of thought into this un-prompted sentence. I wouldn’t be surprised if she practiced before coming downstairs, because it was perfect. Taryn communicates pretty well, but full sentences are still rare, especially without being prompted. She typically uses gestures or says two to three words to let you know what she wants. Although it was MY birthday, I cooked her breakfast exactly as she asked. I feel like the grammar, the manners, and the unprompted sentence was a huge gift in and of itself. Never did I think I’d be grateful to be cooking someone else breakfast on my birthday, but here we are. 💜 #autismawareness #AutismInclusion #autismacceptance #echolalia #autism

This hurts my feelings a little. Even with 40 cents off per gallon, I still got up to $70. I’m lucky that I barely have to drive. I feel so bad for people that have to commute.
