One COMESA, One Africa, One People, One Culture, One Family! The COMESA Tourism and Cultural Night at Heritage Village in Harare showcased the power of Tourism and Cultural Diplomacy in advancing Regional Integration. Convened within the programme of the 25th COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit, running from 19–22 October 2026 under the theme “One Market, One Future: Advancing Inclusive Industrialisation, Investment and Regional Integration in COMESA,” the event saw Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi call on Member States to leverage their shared natural wonders, wildlife and cultural heritage to promote cross-border travel and jointly market Africa. Emphasising the spirit of “Zimbabwe is a Friend to All and an Enemy to None,” the Minister rallied African nations around One Africa, One Love, highlighting the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), linking Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Angola, as a model for regional cooperation and Tourism as a natural export capable of generating economic opportunities.
COMESA Secretary-General Her Excellency Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe called for stronger Tourism linkages between destinations, businesses and markets, while Guest of Honour, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Hon Prof Dr Amon Murwira, highlighted Cultural connections as foundations for Tourism, Trade and Investment. Delegates celebrated Zimbabwe’s culinary heritage and the continent’s cultural diversity, reinforcing the complementary role of MICE and Gastronomy Tourism in enriching destination experiences. Zimbabwe recorded approximately 1.78 million Tourist arrivals and US$1.3 billion in Tourism receipts in 2025, representing 10% growth in both indicators, while Domestic Tourism trips rose 27% to 6.4 million in the first half of 2026. These gains underscore Tourism’s capacity to drive economic growth and employment, strengthening the case for joint destination marketing, investment and easier cross-border movement to position Zimbabwe: A World of Wonders within a more connected African Tourism economy.
