Afghanistan's Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has reportedly been shifted to a hospital after allegedly being poisoned by members of the Taliban's senior leadership during a private meeting involving top Taliban officials, according to sources.
Sources allege that the incident is linked to an internal power struggle between the Taliban leadership in Kabul and Kandahar. Some senior Taliban figures reportedly hold Akhundzada responsible for failing to contain the growing anti-Taliban resistance across Afghanistan.
His silence following Pakistan's recent airstrikes has also reportedly become a point of concern among sections of the Taliban leadership.
