61-year-old Keith McAllister went with his wife to a Long Island imaging clinic for her routine knee scan. When it was over, she needed help getting up. The tech called him into the room.
He walked in holding a phone, wearing a 20-pound steel workout chain around his neck. Nobody stopped him. Nobody screened him.
The MRI magnet never sleeps. The second he stepped toward the table, thousands of pounds of force seized the chain, snatched him off his feet, and dragged him head-first into the bore by his neck.
Pinned against the scanner for nearly an hour. His wife screaming. The tech pulling. Nothing moved. He waved goodbye and went into cardiac arrest in her arms. He died the next day.
The facility’s first reaction? Tell police he barged in uninvited.
In April 2026, Ben Crump filed a wrongful death lawsuit. Leaked CCTV shows the scan was already over and the tech watched him walk right in.
A husband walked in to help his wife stand up and left in a body bag because a medical facility ignored basic MRI protocol.
