Interesting observation on #deprescribing at hospital admission. Older adults with more comorbidities were likelier to have medications stopped or tapered, irrespective of the number of medications at admission, with implications on the transition of care.
This #prospectivecohortstudy 📖by P. Russell and colleagues @Flinders and @SAHealth highlights the risks associated with nonspecific #deprescribing in a population of #oldpatients

Insightful review and meta-analysis out of Queensland indicating that #deprescribing dual-purpose medications can lower mortality and referral to acute facilities. More person-centred outcomes in high-quality #deprescribing studies are needed, however!
@Deprescribing
Our systematic rev suggests that deprescribing of dual-purpose medications in older adults with limited life expectancy lowers mortality & referral to acute hospitals but has no significant impact on risk of health service reutilisation or adverse events.
