This.
As the Supreme Court's majority opinion makes so clear, we, as a society, must understand that colorblind rhetoric will do nothing to solve color-bound problems. Now more than ever, we need our leaders to have the courage to confront our history and our challenges head-on.

Justice Jackson pulled no punches in her disssent. “Thus, the Court’s meddling not only arrests the noble generational project that America’s universities are attempting, it also launches, in effect, a dismally misinformed sociological experiment.”

Authentic and true community. That’s the answer. Apparently, it’s also takes a village to raise a Ph.D student. 😂

Remember in 2020 when white allies got fatigued after like 2 weeks of anti-racist work?

One of the highlights of my day for sure!! #PAtheory2023
I’m in the @patheory #patheory2023 round table on “What should critical public service pedagogy look like?” and I am just in awe of the scholars and practitioners! The conversation is so invigorating!

Let me circulate this Tweet again to remind y'all.

I say it in such manner because I think it is easy for your research interests to become your whole identity in academia. And I refuse that.

Stretching myself to take an Advanced Black Feminist Creativity class this quarter was the one of best academic decisions I have made as of late. It an intentional step to tending to my whole identity. Not just my “research interests”.

conventional scholars: use race as a control variable and wants to "explain away" the race gap Critical scholars: the use of race in stats is problematic. Conventional scholars: you just don't know stats. The hubris of it all.

All I'm saying is: scholars should understand "race" as a process rather than an ahistorical, nominal demographic characteristic.

My biggest problem as a PhD student is I genuinely find A LOT of topics and theories fascinating. I have hard time deciding where to focus my energy and time.
As the academic year begins, we want to remind everyone to #citeblackwomen! Whether it be in your research or in your syllabi, a lot is missed when the intellectual contributions of Black women are left out. We are dynamic producers of knowledge, within and BEYOND the academy!

Today, history was made! Justice Brown Jackson is the first Black woman on our nation’s highest court. Though this milestone is long overdue, it moves us closer to a government that reflects the beautiful diversity of the United States. Congratulations, Justice Brown Jackson!
