I now see the danger in “humanizing” AI with human names and human qualities. Millions of people do not have the cognitive sophistication to handle this and millions will have deep AI psychosis in five years. I believe AI should be presented in a sterile UI as much as possible
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Replying to @yacineMTB
i have a bad habit of being crazy early to things, but procrastinate making/doing things to completion before moving on to the next thing, and kicking myself when the previous thing gets big with nothing to personally show for it

Africa does not need intellectuals who simply translate Western thinking into African languages. We need scholars who begin with African experiences, challenge inherited assumptions, and produce ideas capable of changing the material conditions of our people.

Virtually every negative future consequence of AI has been researched and written about extensively. For years. Remember that when tech leaders frame themselves as tragic Oppenheimer figures.

you finally finish a 180 GB download hit extract "not enough disk space" unzip needs room for the archive AND the files. hatchzip doesn't: it unpacks from the end and eats the archive as it goes free and open source. windows, mac, linux

tomorrow is the last ever Pythagorean theorem day that we will ever get to experience. There’s only ever been 12 of them ever in our lifetime. And they will never be one ever again. How fun!🙂

Why do you write things that portray you as somebody who never went to school? Since when did UPDF obtain powers to enforce court orders of IGG directives for that matter? Do you really know the work of UPDF and how different it is from that of the @PoliceUg? You may think that you are helping the PLU Chairman to display power, but you are eroding his political capital by making him an enemy of public servants and portraying him as someone that does not have access to elite and polished advisors who are conversant with elementary statecraft. How on earth can you be this naïve? Ndugu, you are not advising or simping to some warlord in the jungles of CAR or DRC where the citizens only dream about civilisation. The civilisation of Ugandans was paid for by blood and we shall not tire to remind you to level up. Uganda is not a fiefdom of your buddies. Always remember that this is a country.
Yesterday the Inspector General of Government (IGG) interdicted the current CEO of Uganda National Mining Company (UNMC), Mr Gerald Banaga-Baingi, and the Corporation Secretary, Lelia Bwambale, to pave way for a full investigation of the organization. Now, sources at UNMC say that Mr Banaga-Baingi is still in office. Apparently, the chairperson of the board, Mrs Maria Kiwanuka, has not officially notified Mr Banaga-Baingi of this decision - for whatever reasons. Nonetheless, Banaga-Baingi must have read the official statement of the IGG on X (Twitter). His continued presence in office is obvious defiance of the IGG. It must therefore be aimed at covering up evidence. I have spoken to the CDF who is also chairman of PLU and the leading person in the anti corruption crusade, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. He says he fully supports the decision of the IGG. Mr Banaga-Baingi’s defiance of the IGG cannot be tolerated. He is advised to leave office immediately or face the full force of the state to evict him forcefully by police or UPDF.
