So pumped to launch Personal Computer for Mac 🚀
I’ve loved macOS forever. It’s where software feels most personal, and the perfect place to reimagine what AI can do.
This is the future I came to @perplexity_ai to shape. A lot of heart, vision, and hard work in this one.
Put that Apple silicon to work.
Perplexity Computer can now run open models entirely on your Mac. More control over your data, powered by the hardware you already own.

Today we're launching Roma.
Roma is the to-do list that does itself. The original productivity tool reinvented.
Months of hard work, and a lot of honest feedback from beta users who kept pushing us to get it right.

Roma is available today. Can't wait to hear what you think.
@ycombinator
Our mac app now has hybrid compute -- run local inference alongside frontier models so your sensitive data stays private.
Excited for this launch today!

Today we’re launching Portable Computer on @NVIDIA DGX Spark.
Portable Computer is a fully local version of Perplexity Computer, where the entire runtime: orchestrator LLM, subagent LLM, agent harness all run on your local hardware. No cloud dependency.

Introducing Brain in Computer.
Brain is a continuously learning memory system. Every task on Computer plugs into a context graph built by Brain.
It makes Computer more stateful with every run.
Available as a research preview for all Perplexity Max subscribers.
Our new macOS app is available for all users. Go get it!

Personal Computer is now available to all users in a new Perplexity Mac app.
Personal Computer is an advanced version of Perplexity Computer.
It operates on any Mac, running tasks across your local files, native Mac apps, the web, and Perplexity’s secure servers.

Que @Apple invierta en Claude @AnthropicAI cuando Perplexity acaba de pasarse la partida de integración en MacOS con la nueva versión local de @perplexity_ai se me escapa de mi razonamiento. De los mejores diseños de onboarding que he visto en años.

My first day at Perplexity, @ramanrmalik told me “there's no shortage of good ideas or things we can do. we can do it all. your challenge will be figuring out what tasks have the highest impact.”
This felt like a very unique thing when you have a small team with extremely high talent density.
Now it feels more generally true because the tools are getting so good that all things you can do is basically infinite.
The challenge now is having enough clarity to know which ideas are actually worth doing.
Personal Computer essentially makes it so there’s no barrier to getting “things” done. Just give it a task and it will do it.
Which is great. But it also means the first-order question changes.
When the tools unblock you, you end up spending more time thinking about what’s actually worth asking for in the first place.
Stoked for everyone to try Personal Computer. Work will never be the same.
My day has been made. This is exactly the reaction we were designing for — onboarding deserves to feel like an arrival, not a checklist.
@gards_studio on visuals and concept 👏
@camronsackett on sound and emotion ✨

Grandma has spent 87 years on this earth, and still doesn't know how to work an iphone. Technology has always had demographic barriers (age, background, education). Maybe it's mom needing her glasses to see the screen. Dad butt dialed his top client. Grandpa can't find the mouse on his laptop.
But those barriers are falling. All those hiccups of "I don't know how to use that" are disappearing. The ability to speak in natural language to your computer. Or have it control the browser. Or organize your digital life. It's mind boggling.
Young studs can build better lives. Old people (like my grandma) can stay connected + use technology, and everyone else reaps the benefits of less mundane busy work...plus more time doing what they love.
Banger launch by perplexity. Anyone want a video of my grandma prompting Computer to plan/schedule her next bingo night?? Cinema.

That's a wrap.
I spent 48 hours with @perplexity_ai + @PPLXsupply + @PerplexityComet design team.
Some serious concentration of talent in one building.
Looking forward to telling this story.
