Just sitting in on the Barnet Budget consultation webinar. If you are in a Band D property there is a very real likelihood your council tax will rise by £440 next year and proportionately more for the 47% of properties in Barnet in bands E-H. Start budgeting now.

BTW at the same cabinet meeting there was a long discussion about the council's finances. There were lots of hints & vague comments but cllrs seem reluctant to do is be honest about the scale of council tax rises coming in April. We need an honest debate now so people can budget.

The problem is the new London Plan requires 7,000 new homes on Barnet's green belt. If the plan is adopted any subsequent applications will be harder to challenge especially as the govt wants to speed up planning. Housing on green belt is coming, it's just when & how many.

The state of this: @barnetcouncil got lottery funding for four of these pointless objects, and has shoved one in a disused side turning near Finchley Tescos, where you sit with a can cider and shout at pigeons. (Well, that's my idea of an afternoon out, obviously ...)
