I met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. I thanked him for Germany’s support for Ukraine in every possible area, above all in protecting lives. We spoke at length about our joint efforts with the United States to bring peace closer. Importantly, Europe is part of this process. And tomorrow, talks will take place in Brussels at the team level, with the United States, NATO, Europe, and Ukraine taking part. We are preparing for the meeting in Abu Dhabi and working constructively. We need Russia to be just as constructive. I briefed the President on the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of Russian strikes. Since this morning alone, Russian attacks have damaged energy facilities in Kyiv and five regions: Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Cherkasy. We discussed the possibility of providing energy assistance to our Chernihiv region. This region is under the President’s personal patronage and, unfortunately, is suffering from virtually nonstop Russian attacks. We very much hope our partners will help us get through this winter. Thank you, Germany!
