In 1996, the IRA detonated a 3,300 lb lorry bomb in the heart of Manchester, just as the city was hosting Euro '96. More than 75,000 people were evacuated before the explosion, and despite over 200 injuries, nobody was killed.
It's still one of the most extraordinary emergency evacuations in British history.
