The cost of regulations appears everywhere. Businesses spend money on compliance, which affects consumers and workers through higher prices, lower wages, fewer job opportunities and reduced investment.

Prop 39 released a new ad today highlighting what politicians don’t want you to know: California is one of a handful of states that don’t require a photo ID to vote.
Prop 39 is a battle of politicians versus people.
Politicians want you to vote no.
The People are voting yes.
This ad is a parody, but the problem is not.
The politicians want to protect their power and money. We want to give it back to you.
Vote Yes on Prop 39.

BREAKING: A Venezuelan billionaire seeking a pardon from President Trump got one, not long after his daughter gave Alina Habba, a lawyer close to Trump, a $50 million deal, per NYT
The billionaire, Julio Herrera Velutini, was charged in 2022 in a federal bribery case involving a former governor of Puerto Rico.
Habba is a former Trump personal lawyer who later served as acting US attorney for New Jersey.
The establishment gave @JMilei months. In 2023, 170 Argentine economists signed a letter calling his dollarization plan an illusion, and Ian Bremmer wrote that he expected the economy to collapse in short order—typical Keynesian bullshit, always exactly wrong.
Then monthly inflation fell from 25% in December to nearly 10% by March, and after fifteen straight years of deficits, Argentina ran a primary surplus of 1.4% of GDP in 2025. His party more than doubled its congressional seats in the midterms.
The scoreboard has red ink too. Poverty fell to an eight-year low of 28% in late 2025, then jumped to 32.3% in the first half of 2026. Inflation ran at 33.4% a year, the second-highest in Latin America behind Venezuela, and the IMF cut its 2026 growth forecast from 3.5% to 2.1%.
@saifedean Ammous says the central bank explains the red ink. Milei campaigned on closing it and treated that as an absolute condition, then kept it. Ammous argues that a central bank monopoly on currency and banking licenses guarantees continued peso inflation, and that Ecuador, without its own national currency, cannot inflate even if it wants to.
He says Hoppe was right: Milei should have shut the bank and defaulted. Milei replies that the bank's debts and liabilities need to be cleaned up before it closes, and his proposed charter reform bans the bank from financing the Treasury.
The scorecard splits along the line Ammous draws. Milei cut the deficit and the apocalypse never came. He left the state's money monopoly standing, so the state still decides how many pesos exist.
But hey, Libertarians can cheer the first half and demand the second.
All eyes are on Javi to see how this plays out.

BREAKING: 🇨🇳 China shut down a record 670 banks in 2025, and nearly a quarter of its banking system has disappeared in just four years.
That is almost 1 in every 4 banks gone, and nearly all of them were small rural lenders.
Property prices are down over 20% from the 2021 peak, so the borrowers these banks lent to can't repay.
This is why the closures keep coming. Local governments relied on land sales to developers, that revenue dried up, and the banks funding them were left with the bad loans.
Rural banks now have a 2.8% bad loan ratio, more than double China's biggest banks.
Beijing is merging them into larger institutions to stop small bank failures from turning into a wider crisis.

🇦🇷MILEI: WEST ABANDONED CAPITALISM FOR COLLECTIVISM
“Today, I'm here to tell you that the Western world is in danger.
And it is in danger because those who are supposed to defend the values of the West, co-opted by a vision of the world that inevitably leads to socialism and, thereby to poverty.
Unfortunately, in recent decades, motivated by some well-meaning individuals willing to help others and others motivated by the wish to belong to a privileged cause, the main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism.
We're here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world.”
