NOW TELL ME YOURS! (so I can add them 😂)
Everyone trying to #SaveMassEffect, while I'm still mourning over Dragon Age.
Where was the #SaveDragonAge, where is it.
If BioWare REALLY (I'll believe it when I see it) was cooking a banger of a new ME like everyone alleges, then they could have rebooted Dragon Age too...
I'm coping, I know, Veilguard caused irreparable harm...
To all the people commenting how "Veilguard killed BioWare because of politics etc" - you are off the mark. The one thing Veilguard killed for sure (without a reboot) was the Dragon Age franchise, but Veilguard wasn't the last nail in the coffin for BioWare, it was the 2nd to last and far from the first.
What DEFINITELY killed BioWare was the Saudi's acquisition of EA, the debt pressure being too much, BioWare would have been shut down at that point even if they released the new Mass Effect and if it was successful.
BioWare has always had what you'd call in "modern" terms "woke slop" in their games, the difference being that nobody complained before, and I will say rightly so. Because the writing quality was also MUCH superior than whatever we've got in Veilguard (and Andromeda, let me jolt you tired faces).
Veilguard is a bad game for a myriad of reasons BEFORE you even get to the politics, but you wouldn't know this unless you played it, and I can't blame anyone for not playing it. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy or like it, I would never go out of my way to tell someone what they can enjoy or not, I will just quietly mind my own business while judging your taste 🤣

In before people start to believe I like EA

I made a game devs/publishers tier list, for fun. 🎮
• It's ranked on MY current opinion and/or experience with them or their games.
• Current opinion = if I made this when Dragon Age Origins came out, Bioware would have been at the top of the list. Now? Most definitely not.
• Yes some of them are long gone, yes I put some games rather than devs (I couldn't find the logos, just picture the dev instead).
• No, disliking a game dev/publisher ≠ disliking their games.
• You can like a product and dislike the company behind it - before the GTA cult comes after me.
• Example: I LOVE Total War Games, but I hate the DLC practices from SEGA and CA, thus they are where they are.
• If some devs/publishers are missing, assume I don't have an opinion, experience, or they simply didn't come to mind.
(subject to change, might have moved some stuff up/down, will probably update in the future!)

Dragon Age fans, fight for Thedas! Our window to shape its future is narrow. We have so much to fight for: a remastered trilogy, Joplin’s vision for DA4, DA5, and new ownership. Don’t sit this out! #SaveDragonAge #SaveMassEffect

And this (if real), looks more interesting than anything they've done in the last 10 years.
A purported BioWare developer has leaked a trailer for the cancelled ME 5 on Reddit.
The footage, reportedly titled "MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE," appears to suggest the project was further along in development.
Its authenticity remains unverified.
#MassEffect
We lost BioWare over 10 years ago.
It's a miracle EA allowed them to keep working all this time.
I can't think of any other example in the gaming industry where a studio was coddled as much as BioWare, while delivering nothing worth of their name.
Just look at Microsoft and Sony shutting down studios left and right, even successful ones, for years now.
I despise EA with all my being, in all of its evil forms, but you have to commend how long they kept BioWare running, on a loss.
Expected.
Sad for what it was, sad for what it could have been, but you kinda asked for it yourselves...
Still, you've been a major part of my and many more people's gaming history, so, at the very least, I'll thank you for the good memories and the contributions to the industry and genre.
I hope even more studios will rise up to the task now.
Ran through the demo of @CodeofTheSavage , I unfortunately lack the time to make some clips, but I do have a few thoughts about it.
I had to force myself to close the game and stop playing, after 93 minutes, because I knew I'd spend another hour on it otherwise 😂
"Pros":
- Loved the vibe/atmosphere of the world.
- Combat seems good already from the get go, even with 1 single skill unlocked - I really liked being able to kite enemies in between my swings, while utilizing my weapon's greater range to hit them before they could hit me. I don't know if this is intentional, but for now I'll assume it is.
- Loved having no hand holding and being given freedom of exploration.
- Loved the Ultima (mixed with Gothic?) style of the game and the addition of physics with drag&drop of items.
- Liked the characters portraits.
- Good pixel art.
- The brothel: it tells me the dev isn't afraid of controversies.
- Have only encountered one minor bug: when I moved the minimap to the right side of the screen, it got stuck in place (around the edge of where you would drag the equipment screen) and I couldn't move it elsewhere anymore, only close/open it, until I restarted the game, which reset its position.
"Cons":
- Could use more music tracks, it started getting repetitive while I was exploring Penthos.
- It's nice to be able to move interface things around, but sometimes they overlapped with other game elements a bit weirdly. It would also be nice if all the opened interfaces, like inventories and what not, would close automatically when, for example, they went out of camera as you walk around, without having to manually close them every time.
- Merchants prices need some balancing: if the difference between a worn piece of armor and a new one is only, let's say for example, from 20 to 23 armor, the price should not be double for the "new" version.
- I felt like enemies respawned way too fast, even while just walking around the same area 3-4 minutes later.
- On that same note, because of those quick respawn times, I was able to pretty much break the game right off the bat, because a group of such enemies spawns right outside Clover and you can bait them into the guards, grinding them on loop. I was a fully geared murder machine when I left the first town, barely 20 minutes into the game. This could be intended, but I felt like it made the game way too easy.
- I felt like the "antagonists" were a bit too "friendly" given the events in the prologue and the type of world, but since I haven't seen enough of the story I'll postpone my judgement on that.
- Writing isn't bad, but didn't excite me particularly either.
- Save and load times (also area load times) were oddly quite slow, might need some investigation there.
- Lastly, this isn't a "con" but more of a request: I'd like for the game to feature the option to uncap the framerate and enable vsync (it looked a bit odd on my monitor when locked at 60).
Still, I'm definitely going to play more of this, well done.
