Don't complicate product development. Work can be boiled down to a short list:
- Who is your customer?
- What problems are they solving?
- What job is your product replacing?
- How much are they willing to pay for it?
Be relentless and tireless in pursuing these.

You can design the best possible solution, but if you can't explain it to others, it's wasted. Presenting your work is the most important skill you can learn.

Me: “That’s not uncommon.”
Friend: “He gets driven in a van, and the back of the van is set up with a @onepeloton and a TV, so he gets his workout in on his drive to SF. How common is that?”

Every Feb 13th for the last 6 years I've tried to write a personal piece about my mother who passed away. This time I promised myself I'd just click Save and then tweet it at the end. No matter what.
So here it is: destraynor.com/personal/mam.…

How to improve your listening skills:
1 talk less
2 do not interrupt
3 maintain direct eye contact
4 put your phone down
5 listen with your eyes; look for the unsaid
6 be interested
7 if you are waiting for a pause, so that you can speak, then you're not actively listening

When you are kind, you can help some people and it is good. And also when you are kind, some people will take ruthless advantage of you. But I don’t know how to stop being kind. And I think, in spite of everything, it is the better choice. – at Tudor City, Manhattan

When prototyping, always try wackier/quirkier stuff first. The deeper you get into a project, the more conservative it tends to get. Stranger ideas are more at home earlier in the process.
