I wish Sonic fans at least knew Crush 40 has made non-Sonic songs because then we’d probably have a bit less panic around the Sega licenses being cancelled.
The tracks taken down are the non-Sonic ones, these tracks were licensed by Sega for certain album releases.
Really though we won’t know the specifics unless Gioeli or someone from Sega comes forward and explains directly, which may never happen.

Not quite actually! It's irrelevant whether they're Sonic or not, as they're all basically under the "same ownership" (whatever that is). What's actually happened is all the Crush 40 *albums* have gone down (except Super Sonic Songs). A lot of those albums went
Reposting from a discord server chat about it. TLDR It seems the Crush 40 tracks that were not produced under contract with Sega are the ones having their licenses cancelled. These licenses were used for albums released under Sega, of which included a few non-Sega owned tracks.
So basically stuff made with or for Sega like the Sonic songs are fine, but original tracks like Into the Wind or Sonic Youth are no longer going to be available under albums released under Sega (their music division is sometimes labeled as Wave Master Inc iirc).

What do you mean video game rentals are banned in Japan
With the current Japanese piracy drama going on I think it’s important to remember that not so long ago there was another event where we learned that those people are actually a vocal minority and most Japanese gamers don’t care/also pirate, some are even hypocrites.
