After seeing the Nutcracker on a wheelbarrow, in a skip, and drinking out of a gutter, it was great to see the bird spend some time feeding this evening with @miles_cluff

For many many years, I’ve wanted an opportunity to set up a little pop-up hide to see into the secretive lives of Jack Snipes. Set up at a promising looking pool in Nottinghamshire the other day, and wowzas!!!!! 3 bobbing away in front of me tonight!

Three 'wader species from the east' for which numbers peak in August and September. If you're seeing juvenile Curlew Sandpipers, look out for Little Stints too! Blog about wader migration: wadertales.wordpress.com/201… @BirdTrack graphic from 2019 #ornithology

A spring 'trip' of Dotterel is a highlight for any European birder, but where are the birds going and what do they get up to? Fascinating paper by Bart Kempenaers and colleagues is summarised in WaderTales blog #159: wadertales.wordpress.com/202… #ornithology #birds

We had a surprise visit to a #NewForest stream recently. This #Razorbill was recorded on a trail camera probably resting after some weather pushed it off course. The Razorbill is a coastal seabird and would usually be found in marine or intertidal water. #WildlifeWednesday

Natural England has revealed that it does not believe White Storks to be native to Britain – and it views releases of the species as not a conservation priority. The government's nature agency said such schemes raise "challenging questions". Full story on our website.

After landing and a spending some necessary hours on the beach I headed out in search of Bustards. I immediately came across this individual in the evening sun. The same site held up to 6 birds at once in the following days! More photos found here: ebird.org/checklist/S2825897…
