This is the exact thought I had after the checkered flag at Talladega. Such irony. For Love and Larson, it has to be extra satisfying. End of last season, there were talks that their 2025 championships ā€œweren’t earned.ā€ Well, they're certainly earning them now.
There is something kind of hilarious about the idea that #NASCAR might have the EXACT SAME champions in the first year of 'The Chase' as they did in the last season of 'The Playoffs'. Cup: #5 Kyle Larson O'Reilly: #2 Jesse Love Trucks: #11 TRICON (w/ Honeycutt instead of Heim)

ā€œIt’ll give us something to look at.ā€ Jeff Gordon spoke to the work Kyle Larson has done to improve on superspeedways and the strategy in the early part of the race that RFK Racing pulled.

Per the Richard Childress Racing post-race press release, Austin Hill lost power coming to the checkered: ā€œWe were close. Our United Rentals Chevrolet was good and we worked all day to put ourselves in a position at the end. Made moves when we had to, pushed and stayed in line when we needed to. The car had speed and I’m proud of the work the guys put in to qualify on the front row and have a shot at the win. Just lost power coming to the checkered.ā€

My lord, thankful Riley Herbst got out of his car on his own. That is terrifying

Joey Logano was checked and released from the Infield Care Center: ā€œAnd at this moment it was very much a Talladega nights, oh, no, I’m upside down, this is not good moment. I can’t thank the safety crew enough. They did an amazing job flipping that thing over. The car did a great job. Last time I flipped it was crushed on my head. This time, I don’t think any of the roll cage crushed at all. I appreciate what NASCAR’s done. Thank you, and the safety team, for getting me out of there. Some vicious hits in this one. Just happy to be alive."

What these drivers do is unreal. Major 'thank you' to the incredible AMR Safety Team for their quick response on this one. Good to see Logano get out of the car under his own power.
HUGE Wreck. Several involved and Logano is on his roof. Hoping everyone is ok. šŸ™

Gray Gaulding was HOOFING it, threading the needle to get through this wreck. He almost made it.

OHHH Denny almost wrecked some folks there. Forced himself on the high line ahead of Byron with 15 to go in the stage for 16th.

Championship implications here. Locked the rear tires up heading to pit road and slammed the wall.

Whoever decided on this strategy for RFK probably should apply to be competition director.

You can’t advertise the ā€œFASTEST TRACK IN THE WORLDā€ and have your top product only using 1/4 throttle for over half of the race. Thank you for showing the true hilarity of this fuel mileage racing RFK!
