one of the most important things I've learned in trading
you don't choose outcomes,
but you do choose your response to them
most have this backwards
you don't decide if your next trade will be a win
but when you find yourself in a winning trade,
it is in your control to get the most out of it
properly managing to targets
scaling in profit alongside your rules
identifying what worked so it can be repeated
in the same way,
you don't decide if your next trade will be a loss
but when you find yourself in a losing trade,
it is in your control to minimize the damage
closing out when invalid
resetting your perspective on price
maintaining your emotions and risk after
you control more than you know
it's just that most think it's in predicting the outcome, when in reality it's in managing it
Malarkeyvibes_Excel retweeted
putting on a trade is not difficult
anyone can open the charts, place a trade without intent, and close it prematurely
it takes no skill
waiting patiently for a setup
following a defined plan
managing the trade properly
doing it all again consistently
that is difficult
repeatedly applying a system,
without your emotions getting in the way
not just for one day
not just when you feel like it
not just when the charts are clear
every single time you enter the market, without excuse
that is what makes you a trader
you make these decisions because they are necessary, not because they are easy
Malarkeyvibes_Excel retweeted
if you ever feel lost in trading,
always focus back to one thing
your system
that should remain a priority
because behind the repeated mistakes and emotional decisions is a lack of confidence in your own approach
and it makes sense
when you don't know the money is solely in your system, you feel attachment to the market at all times
when you don't trust that there is another opportunity coming, you force trades out of emotion
when you don't believe your targets will be hit, you mismanage and prematurely close out winning trades
when you don't understand that rules are a necessity, you spiral from any amount of losing trades
you need to create a reason to be disciplined,
because that purpose is what makes you act
it comes through refinement of your system
and the goal is not perfection or guarantees, that does not exist
it is having so much clarity and trust in the decisions you make that not following the rules of your system becomes unthinkable
so if you do not have that yet,
let it be your next step
it will be your foundation to consistency

there is only one mistake in trading
it is making a mistake,
and then not learning from it
because the way you manage your own faults determines your progress
each time you make a mistake,
you are presented with two paths
ignore it and continue on,
or address it and improve
this is a choice you will face time and time again
and it is the direct difference between those who make trading work and those who do not
struggling traders view mistakes as a threat,
and then block them out to avoid the reality of addressing them
winning traders view mistakes as feedback,
and then face them directly to identify the specific areas to improve on
one turns mistakes into bad habits,
the other leverages them for growth
so stop fearing your own mistakes
face them
learn from them
apply the lesson
and you will find progress
