"Am I missing something?" Yes, yes you are and a lot of something too but let me break it down for you. Dead By Daylight has had a very strong & active community of veteran, casual & newcomer players for the last 10 years and im that time, the LGBTQ+ inclusivity of characters & lore has made the game itself become a safe haven for LGBTQ players to feel welcome & surrounded by people who acvelt them (something not a lot of game communities put there hsve in general). So now, we get onto BurntPeanut & what happened so let me boil it down into these key points: 1) A senior community manager drunk asf saw BurntPeanut trying out DBD for the very first time & decided to gift him £300 worth of free skins, perks, cosmetics & whatnot while also saying she doesn't care how others feel about what she did in that moment 2) BurntPeanut then happily accepted the offering....only to play the game for 2 hours, jump off it and then talk about how boring & dead the game is. £300 worth of microtransactions given to a complete newcomer to DBD and he shit-talks it after 2 hours. 3) The DBD community are initially outraged by this because other, more passionate or open-minded streamers who play DBD would've fully appreciated & utilised such a lucrative offering, yet instead was just wasted on a person who didn't appreciate it at all & might not come back to the play the game willingly. 4) the initial outrage against BurntPeanut then riles up his transphobic, homophobic, misogynistic & incredibly MAGA-coded fans to then attack, harass and belittle the DBD community, especially for their LGBTQ values and how grossly exclusive they are for talking about their lord & saviour Peanut. 5) The DBD side account then issues an apology but it becomes incredibly meaningless when the apology suddenly then tries to "defend" the person who gifted the stuff because it's harassment. DrDisrespect & Asmongold (2 streamers who aren't exactly 100% LGBTQ+ inclusive) then says the apology wasn't needed at all as the situation isn't that deep. Thus, all of the points above had caused a tidal wave of DBD players & streamers being attacked because they play a game where it's a safe haven for people the BurntPeanut community absolutely hates & despise, as well as these individuals joining & further spreading the harassment in the discord & on Twitter. So yeah, this is more than just the skins now and if you still can't understand the outrage, then I dont know what else to say.
