If a championship-caliber defense stonewalls opponent after opponent, but no offense is around to help, does it make a sound?
Yes. Groans, some boos, a 4-3 record and a squandered chance at a great season.

Michigan's offense through seven games:
-13 turnovers
-15 pre-snap penalties
-17 drives inside opponents' 40-yard line that didn't yield a touchdown
-16 offensive touchdowns
FINAL: No. 6 Indiana 13, Michigan 6 (OT)
Wolverines net 12 yards in overtime, squandering a chance at the upset. In a game where every opportunity counted, Michigan missed two field goals and had 15 missed 3rd/4th-down opportunities
Wolverines fall to 4-3 on the season
TOUCHDOWN: Indiana opens overtime with its longest play of the game, a 21-yard pickup to Brock Schutt, and scores a play later.
Michigan will need a touchdown to match.
Indiana 13, Michigan 6
FIELD GOAL: On a 13-play, 53-yard drive that took the final 7:32 off the clock, Trey Butkowski delivered a game-tying field goal. Fitting drive for a game void of many offensive plays.
Heading to OT here in Ann Arbor.
Michigan 6, Indiana 6, end of regulation
FIELD GOAL: Butkowski was 0-2 on the day, but delivers on his third try to put points on the board for Michigan. Wolverines didn't do much after Zeke Berry's interception, but the turnover leads to points.
Indiana 6, Michigan 3, 2:22 to go 3Q
On 3rd and 5, Zeke Berry picks off Josh Hoover, and returns it to Indiana's 13 yard line.
That's Hoover's first pick of the season, but readers will know it was far from his first interception-caliber pass of the season.
Michigan in scoring position again.
Michigan gets to the 1-yard line on its opening drive of the second half, then takes a 12-yard sacks and misses the ensuing field-goal attempt.
Missed opportunity for the Wolverines.
HALFTIME: No. 6 Indiana 6, Michigan 0
Wolverines' defense up to the challenge today. Michigan's offense ... not so much. Wolverines have to get some forward traction in the ground game in the third quarter, whether Carr can set things up with a pass game or not.
FIELD GOAL: Michigan has turned the ball over in its own territory twice, and Indiana has two field goals. Wolverines' defense has delivered today, but offense has been a net-negative.
Indiana 6, Michigan 0, 9:31 to go 2Q
Have covered a few Michigan-Indiana games over the years. Indiana traveled at an Ohio State/Nebraska level this time around. Should be a fun atmosphere today
Position group power rankings: Michigan football's best, worst position groups after win over Penn State
