The shoot commenced at kamal sirs home town paramakudi and came under severe opposition of Puthiya thamilagam party head Krishna swamy !
With no option - kamal sir invited the whole village to a place near Guindy IIT and shot the whole movie there . ID card system was followed to allow people in to the premises .
The movie was later named “ Virumaandi “ by the late CM Selvi Jayalalithaa and she made sure the issue never arised again .
There is a dialogue in the movie to thank Amma for solving the issue .
