In a world so deeply obsessed with ruthless competition and conquest, I'd love to live in counterpoint by promoting collaborative joy. Let's explore the living world and tell stories around the campfire together. Can't wait to do more community science with y'all. 💚
It’s been so great working at Innatrix on RNAi biologicals that target critical genes in SCN. Have a read about our technology!
Meet Innatrix’ summer intern, Ben Ryan! He is a forensic biology undergrad who discovered his love for plant biology (which makes sense since plants are awesome)
With our latest SCN trial taken down this week, Ben is busy counting cysts.
Excited to be Ben’s mentor this summer!

Very excited to see my first first author paper published in @PNASNews . We found the first effector regulator in plant-parasitic nematodes! Congratulations to all authors and co first author @ClemPellegrin. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.24…

Physically doing science, not just being talked down to about it, would change a lot of people's minds. Part of the reason why folks are skeptical of scientific institutions is the moat between general public participation and the various fields of research.

Excited to announce that I have joined the @innatrix_inc team in Raleigh, NC!
Thank you @MPMIjournal for selecting our article for Editor’s Pick! A special thanks to @JFplantstuff @Anilm58 @remkv6_rick and @trmaier who made this work possible. Very proud of the collab between @RogerInnes1 and @BaumLabISU labs. Have a read! doi.org/10.1094/MPMI-06-24-0…
Beautiful work by @Suchi_EV_Plants
🧬 This new exciting research by @Suchi_EV_Plants and colleagues reveals how Medicago sativa (alfalfa) fights off infection by fungal pathogens! To learn how incompatible Colletotrichum infection triggers a stronger immune response with the formation of paramural bodies & secretion of extracellular vesicles (EVs), read this research article here: doi.org/10.1094/MPMI-04-24-0…
@RogerInnes1 @Regmicron

ALT Focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) images confirm that Colletotrichum higginsianum induces formation of paramural bodies in alfalfa epidermal cells. A, First micrograph from a stack of 51 images obtained using FIB-SEM. The black box in A shows an area enlarged in panels A1 through D, highlighting a paramural body. A1, B, C, and D, The first, 26th, 36th, and 51st micrographs of the 51-image stack. The plasma membrane (PM), tonoplast, and cell wall (CW) are all labeled. E and F, Three-dimensional models generated using IMOD of the region shown in panels A1 through D.
Just learned there is something called “Tango Buffer” for PCR reactions and I can’t help but think the molecules in those reactions are dressed up in tiny outfits dancing in the reaction tubes
