I have done it! Mighty's Batch-1 is in production! ✅
Mighty is the smallest VIO/SLAM module, here are the final specs and features:
- Global shutter camera + IMU
- 0.8W peak power
- Outputs pose @ 15hz, IMU runs @ 800hz
- Ultra efficient scalable loop closure and mapping via SDK
- Can sync multiple cameras thanks to new FSYNC pinout
- Connects to everything! Mavlink/CRSF for drones, Arduinos/ESP32, Phones, RPIs, etc.
- Powered by 5v USB or 3v-15v power input directly.
- Lua programmable, so you can change output protocols or add custom behaviors etc.
Ported ghostty and @Tailscale to this old Kindle. Now I can shell into my machine and monitor the situation.
herdr + codex over ssh.
The keyboard works too but is not so fun to type on but looks cool tbh!
cc @mitchellh, it was very easy to compile libghostty for kindle!
Experimenting with a stereo variant of Mighty Camera.
2x hardware synced global shutter cameras!
This is good for when IMU cannot be trusted much like on RC or drones etc. Also when Mono generally fails (like pure rotation).
Let’s see how “better than mono” this can get on VIO.
Jack Borer from Reprojection Labs reviewed Mighty, the video was fun to watch 👀

Mighty Camera

I pushed a new firmware update v.2026-09-30 for Mighty with many new features!
- 🎯 V2 visual tracking: Stronger tracking for better rotation tracking and busy spots where features would fail.
- 💨 60 Hz pose output: Smoother motion between camera updates.
- 📺 Analog Out + HUD: Camera feed and configurable telemetry in your VTX goggles.
- 🧲 AprilTag support: Mighty can localize on tags. Also a new Phone-based tag mapping tool, WPILib imports, and position drift correction.
All these changes can be opted in/out, more info in docs: mightycamera.com/docs
I am experimenting an alternate frontend for Mighty’s VIO.
This uses a patch-based approach resulting in longer-living feature tracks; among other things.
For context, the current frontend is ORB feature-based.
Mighty can now output pose at 60 Hz even when the camera runs at 15 Hz!
It integrates IMU measurements between camera frames to deliver smooth position and orientation updates at 60 Hz. This gives robots and drones a more continuous estimate of how they’re moving.

Just got my mightycamera and the out-of-box experience is amazing. Fantastic calibration flow and the thing just works!!
I'm super impressed. First use will be for a @diyrobocars race where it will replace the old Intel Realsense T265 in following a track
What if Mighty Camera could output analog video that can be directly connected to vtx with no additional hardware. This lets you see VIO pose along with camera stream.
Should I ship it?

Christmas came early this year. Can’t wait to mount this on my fpv. Big up @_asadmemon
Testing a color variant of Mighty. Same form factor, just color.
Codex did a fine job tuning ISP by watching the cam feed and iterating! 😁
Mighty Camera is #1 Monocular SLAM on LaMAria leaderboard again! 😊
Real-time SLAM at 20 Hz, using just 0.8 W, on a tiny module.
And the best part: you can buy it today for just $67, with worldwide shipping. 🚀
LaMAria has become a de facto benchmark for evaluating real-world monocular SLAM performance: lamaria.ethz.ch/leaderboard
