Within 0.3 miles of a subway, there are 275K lots. Median FAR = 1.5 25% = 0.75 If we set a minimum FAR of 2.0 for them, this would increase zoned capacity by 450M sqft, enough for more than 500K units.

i've started a youtube channel (abookanaxis) to study, share, and discuss books that i love. i've been working on this for ages as i wanted to ensure it felt valuable as a net positive to the internet and not just be more content that hacks your attention and makes you feel sick.

Did you know you can watch “How Buildings Learn,” the classic six-part BBC series (01997) completely free on YouTube? Scored by Brian Eno and based on Stewart Brand’s book of the same title, the series illustrates Brand’s thesis that buildings are living systems, evolving and changing over time.  Essential for any fan of architecture and Long Now lore. Find all the episodes here: na2.hubs.ly/H07xNq60

For the last year, we’ve been working closely with Gentle Systems in Berlin to develop Bingo. We had a hunch about the design from the moment we decided to collaborate, but turning that instinct into something real has taken a lot of back and forth. The project started from a simple fascination: computers have become dramatically more intelligent, but physically they haven’t changed much. Most of that intelligence still reaches us through the same rectangles, menus, and text boxes. We wanted to know what would happen if a computer had to exist in the world with us: if it had weight, scale, posture, and physically expressed a point of view. What originally started as a simple case study has now turned into something a little more. We are now growing the team in Sausalito, CA. If you are cracked and love to build, reach out: [email protected] For some fun BTS, we made a site: moving.parts

Today, we're sharing new research on Solaris, our first Interface World Model. Solaris is a new kind of operating system that generates interactive interfaces frame by frame, in real time, with no code. We find that Solaris outperforms frontier LLMs when generating new interfaces, across structural similarity and information retention. Read more and request early access at the link below.
