Lavrov should be in The Hague - with all the other Russian war criminals
🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russia's foreign minister just landed in Atlanta to give a speech against sanctions... while still personally under American sanctions
State news agency TASS says Sergey Lavrov arrived for the G20 foreign ministers' meeting the US is hosting, and Moscow says he'll use the stage to argue the world should drop its sanctions on Russia.
Washington froze Lavrov's assets in February 2022, days after the invasion, so the man pitching an end to sanctions is still on the list himself.
The trip lands right before a fresh round of talks between Moscow, Kyiv and Washington on ending the war.
The timing works in his favor: Ukraine has paused its refinery strikes under US pressure, Washington already eased rules on Russian diesel to bring down fuel prices before the midterms, and Witkoff's peace plan is still on the table.
Lavrov is coming to collect on that momentum.
The question for the talks is what Kyiv gets back for everything it's already given up, because so far the only side being asked to show goodwill is Ukraine.

Dozens are injured, including four children aged 10, 16, and 17, and a 10-month-old baby girl.

Thank you, Emmanuel, for your condolences. Unfortunately, the death toll from the Russian strike on a commuter train in Dnipro has already risen to 14. And just a few hours ago, the Russians struck a residential neighborhood in Chernihiv with a drone and killed two girls. They were only 15 years old. In Kremenchuk, a Russian “shahed” struck an apartment building. Tragically, three people were killed. My condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. In these three attacks alone, 56 people have been reported injured, including 10 children.
These are deliberate strikes against civilians, brazen in their cruelty, and the Russians are carrying them out right as the humanitarian operation in Oleshky is unfolding. Russia’s signals are clear – they want the war to continue, and everyone around the world must still work very hard to achieve major de-escalation through strong steps and appropriate pressure on the aggressor.
Peace is needed – and for that to happen, Russia must end its war and terror.

Oktober lockerte sein Finanzministerium die Diesel-Sanktionen für sechs Monate, die erste so lange Lizenz seit Kriegsbeginn. Vom 14. Oktober bis zum Samstag war Starlink für die Ukraine gedrosselt. Laut Wall Street Journal hat Musk das selbst angeordnet. Eine Person aus dem Umfeld sagt, er habe vorher mit mehreren hochrangigen Regierungsvertretern gesprochen, auch mit Trump. Andere US-Beamte sagen, er habe allein gehandelt.
Für die Menschen in der Ukraine geht es um den Winter. Selenskyj hatte Trump am 28. Juli gebeten, mit Musk über Starlink zu sprechen, damit sich die Startplätze der ballistischen Raketen treffen lassen, mit denen Russland das ukrainische Stromnetz angreift (laut The Atlantic). Über Russland wurde Starlink nicht freigeschaltet. In der Ukraine wurde es gedrosselt.

Born in Odesa on June 23, 2023. A long-awaited child. She had just started kindergarten and loved drawing and putting together puzzles.
On the night of April 6, 2026, a Russian drone hit a residential building in Odesa. Anna was killed along with her mother Daria. They didn’t manage to reach the shelter in time.
This is not “collateral damage.” This is the deliberate killing of children.
